Free PC #3

Well... Got a 3rd one, the other two were fried. I got another one. :)

This one apparently has an Athlon 1800, 1.2ghz. I don't know whether this is true. I will put parts from the other two in this one and load PC-BSD on it. w00t.

Ah, I was lied to! It's an Athlon 1800+ 1.53ghz 8-o

It works and I have 256MB RAM in it, I will load PC-BSD 7.0.1 on it, as that's the only distro that doesn't give you crap about it not being net connected.

EDIT: Also, this is the first AMD PC that I will have complete control over. No more having to stick with Windows, although that may be the best choice. }:) Does anyone know how well Flash Pro 8 runs in Wine on BSD?

Here's what's getting rediculous for me. That machine is getting pretty close in spec to my main machine I use everyday: An AthlonXP 2500+

I need something new.

The alternative to beige would be what, exactly? Black?

I would rather have a PC in a well built beige/black case than some horribly built colorful/lit-up/space-age looking case made from recycled North Korean pop cans and paper thin plastic.

I love glossy black cases, or brushed aluminum *cough*apple*cough*
:)
I don't really like glossy cases because they attract finger prints too easily. The aluminum on the new MacBooks is nicer in my opinion.

Well isn't this nice, the computer won't power up anymore. :O

I press the power button but it just spins the fan up for a split second. Ah, crap...... :'(

At least the machines you have dying are PCs.

Since I joined this board a few weeks ago, I've found out that my 9600 was dead, that my IIci was near death, and had the 3400c I bought last week die within hours of receiving it.

That leaves my LC III and 512k. The LC III is already displaying some very weird symptoms. And given all of the above, I'm afraid to even turn the 512k on.

Hopefully it's just a dead power supply. Either way, it was very random.

It has a nice graphics card compared to what I have currently (I think) and if I could find a way to flash it I would try it out in my G4.
