Drivers for an Asante MCLC Rev6 - LC PDS Card?

I'm looking for drivers for an Asante LC PDS ethernet card, but I'm so new to the 68k scene (Hello!) that I don't know where to look. So far I've checked Google and Macintosh Garden, with no luck!

My card is visually similar to this one.

The printed text on my card says: Asante Tech, INC. © 1993 MCLC Rev 6

I stumbled upon this page which says Mac OS does not require third party drivers for this particular card. Does anyone know this for sure?

I have that card in my color classic.  Open transport install which is stand alone is a must beyond that it just worked with 7.5.5

I can't seem to get it to work. The link light on my router's port is lit, so the card itself seems to be online, but DHCP isn't working and my Pings (with WhatRoute) all fail. The Q630 isn't showing up in the router's GUI either, even when I set a static IP.

I have Apple's PDS Ethernet Card drivers installed. I also have OT 1.3 installed. AppleTalk is active, set to Ethernet, and the TCP/IP Control panel is set to always-on and DHCP. Where's the beef?

I have the Rev A version of this card and it doesn't play nicely with autonegotiating ports. It won't actually link unless it's connected to a 10 base T half-duplex device or a port manually configured as such.

I presently have Internet Sharing turned on in OS X on my iMac, sharing my WiFi connection to Ethernet. In System Prefs>Network>Ethernet>Advanced>Hardware, I've set it manually to 10mbit, half-duplex. I've plugged the iMac directly into this card in my Colour Classic. Presto, linked and DHCP working.

Ah, I have heard of that. So I need to add a 10BASE-T switch/hub between the Q630 and my Router?

Awesome! Which model of Linksys is it? I can't get my WRT54GL v.1.1 units to force 10BASE-T right now. I can set it, but the ports still operate at 100mbps.

I'm using a WRT54GS. Not the best model, but not the worst either. It's served me well throughout the years, acting as DHCP server, Client Bridge, and even an IDS sniffer.

I went to Setup tab -> VLANs tab, and then unticked the "Auto Negotiate" & "100 Mbit" check boxes for every switch port, including the WAN port which I had assigned to the switch. If that's not working, I'd make a post in the DD-WRT forums about it, as they fully support your particular model! (That is, if you're using DD-WRT or some other alternative to the default firmware, which I highly recommend)

Thanks for the info!  That feature is broken on the GL model in most DD-WRT builds, which seems to be a known issue.  I tried installing ethtool and robocfg, but ran out of luck-- The GL only has 4MiB of flash storage, so even with the most minimal builds of DD-WRT, it's very difficult to install anything else.  I ended up loading and learning OpenWRT 8.0.9 and doing mostly everything via CLI and vi. -- I got robocfg going and set the desired port to 10/half, then added the command to an init script.  It's alive!  I'm probably going to pull this Asante card eventually as my CC Mystic's LC575 logic board has a CommSlot interface and I'd rather use the PDS for something more interesting- like a //e card.

I'm interested in switching to the comm slot as well. For now, though, I have other problems... When I do LAN/Local HTTP downloads (from an IIS server on my PC), the connection is very slow (which I expected) but it is also very inconsistent! For some reason, it will run at around 16-20KB/s for LAN HTTP downloads most of the time, but then gradually jump to 300KB/s, and back down again! I don't know what could be causing it! The PC has a gigabit NIC, which is plugged into a Gigabit router, which is then plugged into my Throttler (to 100Mbit) and that to the Quadra 630, all with Category 6 cable.
