That is correct. Just replacing the card with same exact setup.
Interesting - are you certain it is a Houdini II card, and not a Houdini 1? I can see it has the sound card fitted, so I assume it is a Houdini II.

If the other card works when you swap them over and keep everything else the same, it is either going to be dirty contacts or a dead card.

What CPU was fitted when you had the heatsink off?

Might be worth having another go at cleaning the pins and socket with contact cleaner, the same with the PDS connector on the card and riser, and make sure when you paste it you have a uniform but thin coating over the whole surface.

i486dx if i remember it correctly.

i will try again with cleaning the pds connector and CPU pins and sockets.
