Have this card but no 50mhz chip and 50mhz fpu. Is there any way of telling which Mac it fits? Would like to put it in a SE/30. What are the chances of getting working chips?
Good. If it adheres (necessarily) to the realities of Apple's architecture, it has a IIci PDS connector that will plug into the cache slot of a IIci (only) without an adapter. IIsi and SE/30 use the same IIsi '030 PDS' (to IIci PDS or 'cache' slot) adapter. There are specialized 030 PDS adapters for LC, IIcx, &c., &c. In short, it is the adapter that makes it 'fit', by translating from a given Mac's PDS to a IIci's PDS.Have this card but no 50mhz chip and 50mhz fpu. Is there any way of telling which Mac it fits? You should be able to get the complete accelerator for less then the cost of those chips (the 68030/50 are popular among Amiga accelerator fans, I have a set in my Amiga 1200).Got a pic? IIRC the DiiMO '030 fits the SE/30, but we need a photo to confirm.
And here are the chips you need. (No affiliation with seller, just did a search and up they came) Certainly not cheap though.
And seeing as there's no heatsink on the card, I reckon your chances with heatsinks just went way up.It is interesting to note that the 68030 and 68882 are both 40MHz chips / clocked them to 50MHz. It is not known if Micromac is simply overclocking lower speed chips or if they secured chips tested by Motorola to work at 50MHz.
Sleep deprivation is a harsh mistress. Excuse me while I go slap myself around with a rotting halibut.Erm....since when was there a Quadra with a 68030?
It's interesting how he was able to re-use the IIci's Power supply for the G3 motherboard.Ummm...this interested me more
