Did my hard drive go bad?

Hello,

I have a macintosh LC that seems to be having some hard drive issues? I turn on the mac and for a while everything was going well, the OS was loading and I could see the desktop. But suddenly, the screen froze as shown in the picture below. As you can see, the OS logo is not in the middle of the screen but lower as if the a single frame of video has been frozen. I restarted the computer, and this time the computer only made it to the screen where it loads the OS. Every time this happened, the Hard Drive made a sound as its power was being cut off and it was slowly spinning to a halt.

I tried another hard drive which I thought was a good one, same thing happened except even faster. The same noise was made. So my question is, do I just happen to have two bad hard drives? Or could this be an issue with the board its self?

Warmest Wishes,

Actually, Uniserver figured it out for me! He new what the issue was right from the start. It turned out to be a bad PSU. He recapped the board for me not too long ago, I should have sent him the power supply too! Uniserver is the best, he really knows his stuff!

Well didnt know the motherboard was recapped, but power supply will definately cause power fluctuation and do the same thing.

Yeah, the TDK supplies are notably flaky. I have a stack of 5 dead ones I need to recap myself.
