Dead Color StyleWriter 2200

Some time ago I bought a Color StyleWriter 2200. It's in great exterior condition, but it won't even turn on. The power adapter reads 13 V. Opening the case I see a component just next to the powe connector labled F1. It doesn't look very fuse-like, and it does have continuity between the two exposed metal parts. Any ideas?

The soldering on the power jack itself, and the on/off switch on the top are more obvious points of failure. The thing powers off very quickly if not in use, too, so maybe whatever controls that could be to blame.

The SW2200 is, however, a great little device to partner with an older PowerBook....

I can't imagine very many electronic parts that ought to have unactivated constant continuity between their pins/leads. It might be worth trying to find a replacment part.

Any chance of larger, more general photos of the whole circuit board? Maybe having annotations?

Yes, I'd imagined bad joints would lead to erratic performance, not death. I tried jiggling the plug around a bit, didn't help. I pulled the panel PCB and checked the power switch, which works, but it only gets 0.06 V

There is a yellow-rimmed coin cell labelled 5 V, and it only gives off 3 V. It's soldered to the control board and I don't have a proper electronics workstation at home so I'll have to take it to the university, but it's worth checking out.
