Does anyone know if there is a way to run the Color Classic in 560x384 resolution without having the Apple IIe card ?

I have been searching the web and have not found a way... Thanks in advance

I've had many CCs, none with the IIe card, and I think they all gave me the 560 option in the Monitors Conrol Panel.

No. It is not possible. You can change the resolution with some versions of the monitor control panel but the picture does not actually change (i.e. get wider). This setting was specifically to display the wider horizontal text characters in the same space as the 512. In essence a cheat, where the text was completely represented in the same space. Since the original resolution was also line doubled on the Mac from 192 to 384, IIe resolution was somewhat fuzier than that of the Mac or a native IIe monitor. The Mac GUI cannot take advantage of this, despite some monitor settings confirming you have switched into the higher resolution. To do so in the same display area would compress the 72dpi pixels and WYSIWYG would be useless – similar to displaying an 16:9 image on a 4:3 TV.
