This is my first post here, so I'll start with short introduction. I have almost no experience with Apple computers. I was a Commodore 64 user in the 1980s, MS-DOS and Windows 95/98 in the 1990s and Linux since 1998. I'm from a formerly communist country where Apple computers were almost non-existent until 1991, and after that for a long time almost no one had money to buy one.
Few days ago I was bitten by the vintage Apple bug after watching too many videos on YouTube and listening too many podcasts on Macintosh Folklore Radio. And today I stumbled upon Mac Classic for sale by a person in nearby town. No keyboard and mouse, but current owner thinks that it works (current owner knows even less about Macintosh than me - he inherited the Macintosh Classic recently). So, he sent me the photo, and to me it seems that some icons are garbled and that something that looks like black sad mac icon is in the middle of the screen. I know that sad mac at boot means that something is seriously wrong, but I don't know what this means. Is it a sad mac? What kind of problem does tat suggest?
I'm meeting with the owner in few hours. Any help would be welcome.
