Bypassing At Ease?

Hi,

Powerbook 190c fresh from ebay
OS 7.5.5
At Ease 2.0.3
Stuff fresh from MacGardenSite

I want to install additional software on an old 190c, unfortunately there is ATEase on the computer and i didn't have the password...:(

Is there a way to bypass At Ease or reset the (Admin)password and install my software?

I don't want make a complete new Systeminstall on the drive, because there are also interessting programms on the existing system. So the best i think is to have both: existing system with At Ease and the new installed software :)

You will need a new startup disk. Either CD-based (if you have a CD drive for it), or a floppy. Once you are started from that disk, remove the "At Ease Preferences" file from the Preferences folder in the System Folder by placing t in the Trash and emptying it.

Now, when you start up, you should be able to start to the desktop. If you want to get rid of At Ease entirely, that is more involved :p.

:)(y) Thank you, i will try it.

Is there also a way to get the password of AT Ease or reset it?

I thought you just needed to install a compatible version of TotalityFreakedOut…
 whats that... software, where can i get??

To the Software thing: On Macintosh Garden or on another site, i dont remember, there is talking about a tool: AT Peace...

But i didn't found anything in the www to AT Peace. Anybody know this little piece of software?

There used to be a way to hack At Ease by going through the debugger prompt. I did this once or twice back in Jr High school but i will be damned if i remember what i did/how I did it.

Hit the interrupt button (or command-option-power on those Macs that don't have the interrupt button), then type G FINDER. If Macsbug is installed, it may not work. But, if not, that will get you into the Finder.

Forgot about that trick!

Also used to do this command when G FINDER didn't seem to work:

G 40F6D8

Not sure why that worked and G FINDER didn't, sometimes.
