Just got the A OK to take the B&W G3 in the lab home! I am going to combine both of them to make a great server!

WooHoo!

OK Here is the specs:

300mhz proc (Back of it says 350, strange...)

192MB RAM (128,64)

12GB HD

OSX 10.4.11

Good Plastics.

Pics compared to my other BW Soon.

i have one w/ a G4 in it. they are very easy to OC, i would suggest swapping the 400mhz cpu and pci cards in from your dead g3, and then OCing the cpu to 450mhz (i added an extra fan in mine to help w/ cooling, it fit in a pci slot).

here is the over-clock guide, it is for a Yikes G4, but the only difference between them and a B&W is that the yikes has a G4 cpu (i used this guide for mine): http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/G4ZONE/G4YIKESOC/

also, as an interesting note, i believe that one should be able to simply take the G4 zif from their Yikes and pop it into the B&W G3, they have the same or almost the same motherboard.

defiantly put more ram in it, the maximum is one gb, and with one gb it should be a great sever

BTW, what sever software are you using?

Yeah that's my plan. I'm gonna combine them into a great G3. I'm going to get some more RAM from my schools RAM reserve (Made that up) I think I may just stick with regular OSX 10.4.11, Or I'll put OSX 10.4.11 Server from my school, but it may be overkill for a torrent and webserver.

I also want to see what data is on the drives on my dead Blue and White, after all it has 1 IDE and a SCSI Fast drive in it.

I'm gonna put two graphics cards in it.

Thanks for the OC tip, I tried it before on this same machine and it did not work... I guess I was doing it wrong. I hope the 400mhz CPU works on my working BW G3.
