Avid boards, NuBus, and cables! Oh my!

Spent the weekend negotiationg a deal for what I originally though was just a box of cards. Returned home with the cards and a LOT more.

I'm seeing lots of digidesign, Avid, and Radius stuff (and some things totally unrelated to a mac). I can match up at least two cards with their external boxes (the Radius Telecast and the Media 100) but I'm a total n00b when it comes to the rest of the stuff. I can at least see I got the NuBus card that allows me to plug in the 12-slot NuBus expansion box but alas, I didn't get the box. :(

Can I get a general idea of what I have here aside from lots of video, network, and scsi cards and what I am missing? I do have what appears to be most of the breakout cables for the Avid cards. I had no room in the car or money in my wallet to buy them this time around but they should still be there next time I visit.

Oh, I don't think I'll be needing all of this so it might end up going on ebay so I can cover the costs.

Yeah, I noticed there were a few interesting cards like the PC drive card (which I will test to see if it is remotely compatible with IBM's external floppy drive with the same connector) in the pile. There is also a video card for the Radius Pivot.

The Diimo card appears to be a 50mhz 030 upgrade with cache (that sounds a bit weird in terms of speed).

I'm still googling and I'm not finding anything in terms of what cards go with others or with those boxes yet. Is there anyone here with some experience on hardware like this?

Some NewerTech CPU upgrade card.
Yes, for a PCI series (7500-9600) Mac.

That is considered by some to be the most desirable of SE/30 upgrades. You will find mention of it here and on Applefritter.

Ooo, audio hardware.
Oh my oh my oh my - a nice haul of Digidesign audio interfaces there (some rebranded Avid). Digidesign's support pages should be some help in working out what goes with what, once you navigate their labyrinth. The top one looks like a 442 or an 882, and the bottom like an 888. Apparently with the correct card/cable set, they can be used with either a Nubus or PCI Mac.

The cables and cards you are looking for to go with them have connectors that look like SCSI, and will be branded either Digidesign or Avid, or both.

A/V Personality (PERCH) card for beige G3 with modem daughterboard

The black plugs on the end of this card look suspiciously like optical digital audio I/O - either SPDIF, TDIF or ADAT. The plugs should pull out without much resistance and reveal the optical socket behind them. And on a Nubus card no less! I never knew. The cable connectors at the top suggest it's to be installed as part of a Protools system. And are they RAM sockets at the left? Interesting.

This, this and this look like Digidesign AudioMedia cards - left and right (red/white) analogue audio in and out and SPDIF coax digital audio in and out (black/yellow) - although I'm not 100% sure about the shorter PCI one. Will work with or without ProTools.

This one.

Note the connector on the expansion box chassis. It connects to that.

For the avid rebranded and the ProTools audio interface boxes, both have connectors that look like HD50. All that I got that is the same are these and I got a fair number of them. Would they suffice for the job?

The SIT card is undoubtedly the mac version of the Mach64. I ued to have one in my first pentium box. They were quite nice and yes, those appear to eb SIMM doublers. I didn't even know that was possible.

yea I used to swear I would buy some as they were kind of hot for pc's, think I have even seen dimm doublers for sd ram (and of course the magic slot doubler so you could cram 2 celerons in your slot pentium ii/3 boards)

I'd really suggest you research each device on Digidesign's support site. It can be a bear to navigate, but once you find the right page for each device, it will tell you what other hardware and software it is compatible with, and what drivers you need. Digi made a -lot- of different stuff, and it can be picky about what goes with what.
