Apple Keyboard II seems to be dead

So, in my lot of Apple stuff I got a few weeks ago, there was an Apple Keyboard II. I initially ignored it since it was in a carry bag with a Classic and I assumed it was fine. My attention was going towards fixing the Apple Keyboard I with stuck keys I also got. Now that I've resolved that issue on I'm working on recapping the classic, I'm trying to figure out why this keyboard just won't work.

Here's the issue. I plug it in to my working SE (fine with my other two working ADB keyboards) and none of the keys work at all. I tried a different cable which made no difference. I also unplugged the keyboard cable inside the keyboard and plugged it back in to see if not making contact was the issue. Still, no change. Here's the weird bit. If I plug in a mouse or even another ADB keyboard to the unused port, those work just fine. So the issue seems to be with the keys or the connection. Any idea what I could try next? I know they aren't the best keyboards, but I may be gifting a compact mac to a friend and this one might be the one I give them if I get it going. Any help would be appreciated!
