Well, someone I purchased another item from sent me an Apple II GS Woz edition for the price of shipping.

I don't know much about it yet and haven't hooked it up but it worked prior to shipping. I just need to do some research before I try to turn it on because it came packed full of stuff.

- AppleColor RGB A2M6014 monitor (original box no styrofoam)

That's one souped up IIGS - nice score. Most Apple IIs I've come across have been bone stock, but I did pick up a similar IIGS a while back with TransWarp, RAMfast and an extended RAM card. I've been tempted to get the CFFA card for it, as it's kind of difficult to transfer software across over standard SCSI with only Vintage Macs at my disposal.

I did purchase my TAM from him so he said he'd throw in the IIGS. That was very generous of him as I had no idea what would come with it. A few months later, I was very surprised and delighted, as can be imagined. It's almost like a time capsule for the IIGS.

I didn't know the CFFA3000s might work in the IIGS. I have two earmarked for an Apple II+ and an Apple III (haven't taken them out of the package yet). I would really like to fix the hard drive in this IIGS so I wouldn't need the CFFA3000 or at least get the SCSI drive working once so I can copy it. The previous owner said it has most IIGS software on it already patched to run off of the hard drive. If I can't get that hard drive back, I might be asking how to patch floppy images soon

Dude, ya scored big time. The VOC is EXTREMELY rare. More so than the Apple II 3.5" drive controller card used for the external SuperDrive.

Anyway, yes, the CFFA3000 works in any slotted II. If you're not a member of the Apple II Enthusiasts FB group, join up. I'm over there, as is Cosmo, and I think a couple other 68kmla'ers...

Yes, CFFA3000 works with IIGS, just needs one dip switch in different position. Absolutely *must have* for Apple II machines.

You, my friend, have the mother of all upgrades in that thing. Take good care of it! Those are some seriously expensive and rare upgrades. Zip GS, SCSI, RAM, and MIDI card? Phew! :approve:

Come to think of it, the upgrades in that IIgs are probably worth more than what you payed for the TAM. )

Thanks guys. I am very happy. Now I have a question.

The SCSI hard drive is said to be bad. Can I hook it up to a classic Mac (TAM maybe?) and try to take an image of it if I can get it started up? I believe it has multiple ProDOS partitions and I'd like to transfer it to a new drive, if I can. What tools can I use? If I need to go to an earlier Mac, I have a LC475 and a Mac Plus easily accessible; TAM preferred.

Just copy the files to a folder on your Mac's hard drive. Then, try nuking and repaving as ProDOS again. If I remember correctly, System 7 can do so with the PC Exchange control panel installed.

Any *NIX box with a SCSI card can do a raw dd image of the drive too.

Lido sees the drive with 1 MacOS partition and 4 ProDOS partitions but it won't mount. The RamFAST SCSI card on the IIGS doesn't see it either from what I can figure out. I'm a little stumped at this point.
