apple IIc using disk images on 3 1/2 inch drive

Hi,

As you know some apple IIc's have 3 1/2 drive. When using adt pro to copy files, I am unable to write a 5 1/2 inch drive image on to the 3 1/2 inch floppy. Since the vast majority of images are in this format, I was wondering if there is a way to convert 5 1/4 inch floppy images to 3 1/2. Thanks

If the source image is a prodos disk then you can just copy the files to a 800K image... however, if the source disk is DOS 3.3 it's not so simple. DOS 3.3 doesn't support 800K disks, so you'd need to use a utility like DOS Master which can partition the 800K disk, but you'd still need a 5.25" drive to copy the disks from.

How about you buy an external 5" disk drive for your Apple IIc plus?
While that is a good idea, it doesn't help to write disk images onto disk from another computer. That's the big advantage of the IIc+'s 3.5" drive; you can just use ADT to manage disk images on a more modern Mac.
