Another (Small) Apple Haul.

I've been taking a few deliveries and freebie pickups over the past week. Last week I took delivery of the MacBook Pro and PowerBook collection. I've been busy over the last few days, so this is the second half of this weeks liberations.

Both myself and LCGuy here on the forums decided to jump on the iPhone (1st Gen) bandwagon this week. I think collectively we cleared out the supplier. I ordered two, one for myself and one as a gift. It's a 1st Generation AT&T model, 8GB. It's a little rough around the edges, but it's in much better shape than I expected it to be.

Yesterday I was given an iPod (4th Generation) U2 Special Edition. It's a little scuffed up and has lots of small scratches, but none of them deep enough to feel, so they should be mostly removable with a restoration kit. I replaced the dead hard drive with another 20GB iPod drive and swapped in my newer battery. I'm still having cold start issues getting the drive to spin up, which I'm not certain is the drive as much as it could be a voltage drop. I had this issue occur with one of my other 4th Gens, so it could be the replacement batteries I'm using. Once it's running though, it works perfectly fine.

Finally, I already covered this one in my other thread, but along with the iPhones I also ordered a 400MHz PowerBook G3 "Pismo" Processor Daughtercard. I'm thrilled to see my PowerBook G3 come to life again after 20 months in hibernation with a malfunctioning CPU. It now runs both Mac OS 9.2 and Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.11.
