No, JT. Nobody cared or thought it worth thinking about, except you - of course.

Actually I was with X86 most of the time lately and must admit I hardly used the 7100.

It sits beside my Hackintosh, as it was insanely expensive when it was new and it did serve well for many years.

Of course some tasks could still be done with it today.

On the other hand there is very little that can not be done elsewhere, if we include emulation of System7 or OS9.

Maybe the community was right, not to get involved.

Thinking of shipping, coustoms and international money transfer, it may really not be worth the effort.

The one thing I'd use a x100 for is to try and run the old D7 build of Copland. Apparently it only works on the first-gen PPC Macs.

If you're feeling adventurous you could try that. It'd be nice to see some new screens or videos of it up and running.

@Protocol7: No Copland for me right now. I had to attach my old Sony CRT to the 7100, as I needed the TFT and VDO adapter for the iMac. I dont think I have a spare HDD right now for Copland and installing on MO would be rather painful, I presume.

I saw Sarah running quite nice in SheepShaver, but thats not what you were thinking about.

@Cosmo: The hardware is really dirt cheap. A couple of years ago it would have been no question to spend 50 bucks for a 400MHz upgrade. I have one big problem here with non EU imports. These days it is literally impossible to declare the items to customs yourself. If you are out of luck and dont recieve things as "sample without value", the declaration is handled by private big players, who will charge you astronomical fees for customs handling. Hopefully there are different procedures in your country.

Custom decleration is quite easy these days. There is an note that arrives your home and you can choose, either visit the Custom-Post yourself, or full fill the papers online (haven't done it) and the package arrives in local post office. Basicly computer hardware is +23% if i remember correctly (item+postage=total+23%). This however depends what courier is been used, UPS, FedEX etc i assume you really need to visit their import office (or whatever it's called) and pay the fees, basicly the same +23% but they might add their own feels top of it.

Next week i might be able to get the card locally, let's see what happens.

The Crescendo 7200 is not the Crescendo Nubus.

You *only* need that ribbon cable if you want to use the G3 in a 7100 or 8100 *and* use the Apple AV or HPV video cards. In a 6100, it is not required (the AV/HPV plugs directly into the G3, at right angles; the G3 card takes the place of the 6100 PDS right angle adapter), and in a 71/8100 you have the option of using a Nubus video card instead. Even with the ribbon cable, the AV/HPV card uses up a Nubus slot for back-panel mounting, unless you get creative.
