So I was on my way into my room, I was going to turn on a couple of my 68k Macs that I haven't given some exercise to in a while. So on my way in, my brother stops me and asks me what I'm doing. I answered that I was about to turn on a couple of my old computers, to which he replied, "Pshh, good luck!"
So I laughed, admitted it was clever, but also told him how wrong he was, how little faith he had in my Macs.
So I then proceeded into my room and turned on a couple of my compacts, my Plus and one of my SEs. All is going well, I was in the act of inserting the boot disk into the Plus, when I did a double take at the Plus's screen. I blinked, leaned in closer to it, and looked again. No, I wasn't dreaming...the edges of the screen were undulating gently, in and out, as if they were the waves of a calm sea.
After a while it stopped and the edges remained still, although still a little bit bent. But the irony...all this time the Plus worked fine, and doesn't start showing signs of analog/flyback failure until my brother makes a derogatory comment against old computers.
Obviously from a mechanical perspective, I'll leave the Plus alone until I can further diagnose the problem. But still...I hate irony. >
