Yay. Won an auction for a 2.3GB Fujitsu 3.5" SCSI Magnetic Optical Drive for $25. I have a couple packs of 230MB discs. Works with System 7, and the media is pretty darn reliable. Not sure I'll ever get 2.3GB discs, they're bloody expensive, but I might happen upon a pack at the surplus store if I'm lucky. :)

Going to use it to archive my vintage software.

I have never ever seen 2.3 GB 3.5" MO discs. 230 and 640Mb, sure, still using them for critical backups, but 2.3Gb??

Are you sure it's not a typo or that you've bough 5.25" drive?

Good score. I was surprised when they released a SCSI version of their 2.3gb MO drive. Would have thought that they'd have gone for USB2 and FW 800.

I am thinking they are 230MB, have a 3.5" Fujitsu MO drive of that type.
Nope. :)

I'm sure. :) This is the model MCJ3230SS Fujitsu 3.5" 2.3GB MO drive. Here's a link to the auction so you can see.

The 2.3GB 3.5" discs are very expensive, though. More expensive than the 5.25" versions which are already "eBay Insane" priced. The drive, however, is backwards compatible with 1.3GB, 640MB, 540MB, 230MB, and 128MB discs, and works on System 7.1 or newer. So I'll just get the cheaper not-as-big discs anyway. I bought it replace my Iomega Jaz drive with a more manageable and reliable and media.

If anyone else is interested in getting one, I found these two for relatively good price (I got a good deal on my sniped auction, but these are reasonably priced compared to the other auctions.)
