180c question

Picked up a couple 180c units. Both are actually pretty mint. Pulled one apart, everything looked great so proceeded to recap and fix any broken screw mounts while disassembled. This one unit the display housing / mounts were perfect, unreal. I did epoxy around them to help strengthen them though. After recapping the one i was having weird display issues. So i pulled lcd off and checked my caps. One was loose, so fixed that. I also cleaned both sides of the pcb while doing initial recap.

Tried lcd again, was better but still not right. So decided to take other 180c apart and try lcd in there, works perfectly.

So now i have to figure out what’s happening. I tried different inverter. Both of the inverters are recapped. Same issue.

Tried different interconnect board, same issue.

So that leaves the other little board that connects to interconnect board, and display cable. The display cable has no obvious signs of damage. I cleaned both ends with isopropyl.

Any ideas? Probably the cable which stinks.

From what I’ve read it sounds like it could be the cable. Is it possible a part of it is coming loose? If you apply pressure to where it meets the display does anything change? Or if you move the display any change?

If i touch the cable at the hinge it does seem to affect the display. If its the cable, just hope one can repair it possibly. I can’t see any damage, but wonder if trace inside is damaged?

Well, back in business.. no funkiness in the display, all colors present. I would hate to have to do all if those lines. But, i do have completely torn 180c cable that I might give a to now:) not sure.

Good work! That's not a repair for the faint of heart.
Wasn’t too bad, but if i had to do more traces, or them all, that would get quite stressful lol. I picked up a 2400c. Paid, way to much, and no signs of life. Any experience with those?? I removed pram battery, was leaking a little, but not too bad. Nothing on logic board. Did a full tear down, and put together enough to try, but nothing. It feels like some chips may get warm above cpu not 100% sure

check to see if any of the fuses on the logic board are bad. That seems to be a common issue on these for whatever reason. Also double-check that the CPU is properly seated down.
