As I recall there were 3 versions of Tiger DVDs. 10.4.0 and 10.4.3 were in traditional, large boxes while 10.4.6 (the first Intel-compatible version) comes in small boxes.
All Mac software comes in small boxes since then.
If you have other Tiger-running Macs around, I'd just leave it as is for historical reasons. The idea is like "This is what it is when it was launched in 2001" and, yeah, to see the "oddity" as Cory mentioned above.
Just checked and all the G3s are gone. Hope they have found a new home :)
For the Mac Pro, I'm a little bit hesitate as I don't want to spend too much on old(er) hardware. I'm using a Mac mini 2012 with Core i7, 16GB RAM and Fusion Drive, which shouldn't be too far from the Mac Pro. Instead...
The catch here is that I'm not even allowed to inspect the machines.
I spotted there's a little bit cracks on the case when I bought mine so I want to pick another one. The guy says
"Bro, it's dirt cheap and we will trash them if no one buys them. Don't be so picky"
I was only allowed to...
I had been wishing for a Blue & White G3 for awhile because it's one of the coolest Mac to me. Not to mention the great compatibility to different hardware (USB/FireWire/SCSI/ADB) and software (Mac OS 8.5.1 till 10.5.8 with CPU upgrade).
However the G3s are getting rare in where I live...
Somebody done that before (http://www.mac512.com/ccpmg4.htm), back when G4 cube was the smallest Mac available on the market.
However, given that the Cube is such iconic and classic Mac, I'd prefer to keep it intact... Maybe put a Mac mini G4 if you really want to put a PPC Mac inside?
I think I have a Radeon 7000 in my 8600, which was pulled from an Xserve.
System Profiler says it is running with a G3 427MHz Processor with 272MB RAM (64*4+8*2). Got Mac OS 9.1 installed but I'm not sure how to use the capture card yet. :-/
I'll try to install OS X with XPostFacto later :)...
w00t! I didn't know much about the Mac clones before. It has the best G3 upgrade? Sounds really cool then!
I just remembered that there's a video capture card as well.
The previous owner left a Mandrake Linux 10.1 install disc inside. Given that it has an IDE card, I guess the previous owner...
AH! You're right! That's probably the card from G3... 8-o It has a VGA port only.
now... where is the original card? I don't even have the original keyboard and mouse :-/ and if the CPU is upgraded (which is very likely), I really wonder where are those cards... :?:
Let me get a hard...
I was surfing around a local Mac forum (I'm in Hong Kong) last night and spotted a post for giveaway of a "Power Computing Mac Clone" :O
The post was posted for about 15 minutes so I quickly replied him without a second thought. There wasn't any information on the specs of the machine at all...
Just tried the video card on my G4 Gigabit Ethernet. It works... so I guess there's something wrong with my friend's G3.
Maybe I should try this video card with my 8600/G4 later? Hah :b&w:
Walked around town yesterday with my friend and spotted a store with lots of stuffs inside. My friend was looking for a video card to fix his G3 as it doesn't show any video after power on. So we asked the shopkeeper if we can get the video card from those dusty Xserve they are selling...
Well...

Software should be available there for PC Compatibility Card.
Check Control Panel for hot key switching to PC, but usually Command-Return.
Hope these helps :)
Good day everyone! I just found a cheap (HK$20; ~US$2.578) Sonnet Crescendo G4 400/1M this afternoon when I was walking around in town. It's really cheap and works with my 8600/250! :O
I didn't think much when I buy it. The lady looked at me and says "It's for Apple...?". I guess she regrets...
After leaving it plugged for a night, I can power it on but it won't detect the HD. Floppies can't eject by itself neither. So I suppose it's a failing power supply...
I just got a Color Classic again. The enclosure was fine but it won't power on. I tried several keyboards and cables and still no luck. :(
The fan runs and LED lits when I removed the mother board and switch on via the switch at the back. So I assume the power supply is functional? Or that's...
