PowerMac G5 Quad "The New Blood Mod" - A guide to flushing, modifying and refilling the dual-pump cooling system.

Could it be because the LCS is not connected anymore and AHT is expecting it to be there?

PowerMac G5 Quad "The New Blood Mod" - A guide to flushing, modifying and refilling the dual-pump cooling system.

It's pretty impressive! I'd be happy to see how you managed to attach the heatsinks.

PowerMac G5 Quad "The New Blood Mod" - A guide to flushing, modifying and refilling the dual-pump cooling system.

This would be a great long term solution. Some people used trimmed air cooled G5 heatsinks with good results.

    Help Identifying 68040 CPU Upgrade

Thank you all! With those informations, I found out that this item is actually for Quadras and Centris 610. I'm a bit surprised : cooling is only made with a heatsink and a fan. I thought that 50mhz versions of this kind of accelerator required peltier junctions or other aggressive cooling methods.

    Help Identifying 68040 CPU Upgrade

Hi. I came into the possession of a 68040 based CPU upgrade similar to a Quaddoubler. Could somebody help me find out for which Quadra/Centris model it was designed? The "missing pin" is in the upper left corner, near the C24 mark. Thanks.

OS X Server on Powermac G4 (gigabit)

Hi. I'm about to get hold of a Powermac G4 (Gigabit). I have access to OS X Server 1.2 install disk, which I successful installed on a Powerbook PDQ a few years ago, but I just realized that the Gigabit G4s require 1.2 v3...  Is it possible to install version 1.2 on a Gigabit G4?  If not, is...

    Motorola 68060 upgrade

You could also check on the Natami website. It is a project aiming at building a modern 68k Amiga computer. The CPU is emulated within a FPGA and is 68040 compatible. I think I read somewhere that the performances where similar to a 100 (or was it 166?) mhz 68040, which is already quite...

    Mac OS X Server

Hi. Only USB keyboard and mice are supported (and only one port is supported). It is indeed a very interesting OS.

    DSP programming

Hi. These are the files that were on ftp://ftp.csua.berkeley.edu/pub/jwang/develop/... They don't include the AT&T manual. I never tried the tools. You may try to contact Mark White, the developer behind mpegdec (http://www.jwgdesign.com/mpegdec/). He tried to make a DSP version of his...

It would be easier (!) to find a way the disable the clock-doubler of a Quadra Overdrive Plus, so it would run at the same speed as your bus (50 mhz) with 128k of cache... There was a thread on http://www.nextcomputers.org/forums/ about a guy who made some radical changes to his Quaddoubler...

    Quadra 660av Troubleshooting

The heatsink is glued on the processor. I can't say I'm willing to try to remove it, clean the CPU, and then reattach it. But, changing the fan seems to have solved the problem. It has been on most of the day without any problem.

    Quadra 660av Troubleshooting

Both fans are working. I'd be tempted to replace the heatsink/fan on the Quaddoubler, but its somewhat glued on the CPU. EDIT : I replaced the fan of the CPU heatsink with one twice as powerful. So far, it seems to have solved the problem (no crash for nearly one hour while playing MP3s and...

    Quadra 660av Troubleshooting

I'm having some problems with a Quadra 660av I left unused for a few months. When I turn it on, it crashes after about 15 minutes of use. Sometimes it simply freezes, sometimes I get an error message ("bus error" or an other one) with the "restart" option (clicking restart won't change...

CPU sockets are compatible (not the PDS though) BUT the upgrades won't necessarily physically fit in the case. I once tried to install a Quadra 650 Quaddoubler in a Quadra 660av. Didn't work because it was overlapping the CD drive tray.

    "ultimate" 68k machine

I think we discussed that in another thread. At that time, we agreed that the PDS slot in the Q660av was not a real PDS slot... Meanwhile, I've checked the Quadra 660av and 840av Developer Note and found the following information on page 46 : So, yes, the PDS slot in the 660av is a...

    iMac g3 wifi?

I had a D-Link DWL-122 usb adapter. The drivers had some issues on Tiger. Basically, I couldn't put my iBook to sleep or disconnect the adapter while the computer was turned on, but it was way cheaper than an airport card. On the other hand, your friend could buy a wifi-ethernet bridge...
