    Another LCIII rescue!

They are the latest in long life caps and when they fail they don't create a mess. They are definitely not cheap tho.

    Another LCIII rescue!

Nice, I owned a Centris 610 back in the 90's with the 13" color Apple trinitron screen, it was an amazing machine.

    Another LCIII rescue!

If you use 7.5.3 with the newer patched disk utility it's really fast and works great with no errors. I had all sorts of issues with other versions of Mac OS and the patched utilities.

    Another LCIII rescue!

It was really fast, the benchmarks all showed better speeds & seek times than any HDD of the day.

    Another LCIII rescue!

G'day chaps, I rescued another LCIII today from old cap death but found there is no sound output if I plug in external speakers. Internal sound works completely Normally. I checked all the new caps in that area and the continuity is all good. Is there anything else to look for that might cause...

    Another LCIII rescue!

Cheers, I bought heat sinks that came with adhesive thermal pads as they are prefect for retro fit installs. I do the same on my Commodore and Amiga computers.

    Another LCIII rescue!

Finally got around to re-capping my LCIII This cap was a PITA to fix, I ended up attaching the cap to the via on one side and used a wire, into the other larger via on the other side, to replace the missing pad.  and she's alive! and I added some heat-sinks to promote longevity - the...

PowerMac 7220/200 (aka 4400) No Video problem

Hi All, I finally got around to playing with my PowerMac 7220/200 (aka 4400) that I acquired ages ago but I'm quite stumped on how to get it working. There was no PRAM battery so I made one with a AAA Tri-Cell holder as I found a mention somewhere that these machines wont boot without a PRAM...

    Another LC Restore, LC630

You could always find one on Fleabay, they just drop right in. Btw, It's been so long since I've used MacOS 8.x that I cant recall if "about this Mac" identifies the model like 7.x does? Mine doesnt appear to.

    Another LC Restore, LC630

So I got nice condition LC630 recently, it had no HDD and only the on-board 4 MB Ram .... but, it had the full fat 040 instead of the LC040! :D I originally got it up and running with a laptop IBM 1 GB HDD but have since found a compatible 1GB CF card which flies along nicely! I dropped in a...
