It is now official... I've contacted my hosting provider, and made the arrangements. On Feb 11, 2014 Penny will be retired.

    A/UX resource going away

Yeah, to be honest, I kinda burned out on this hobby. Old computers are fun at first, but they end up being a lot of work. The site is coming up for renewal anyways, so I figured it was time. I've already had a few folks offer to host mirrors, so it's not completely going away. Thanks guys

    A/UX resource going away

Hi guys, I'm not sure where to post this, but it's A/UX-related, so the software-forum seems appropriate. After ten years, I have decided to shut down http://www.aux-penelope.com. The site will be up for at least another few weeks, so feel free to grab a mirror if you find it useful. I will...

    OpenSSH for A/UX

It's been a while since I played with this one... but I remember it being pretty darn slow. Slow enough that I just use telnet. ;)

    OpenSSH for A/UX

Source and compiled binaries for ssh client & server: :-) http://www.aux-penelope.com/jagubox/AA.new_files/ssh-1.2.32.tar.gz There's an ssh-2.4.0 package here, but I think it's just the client: http://www.nleymann.de/appleAUX/

*NIX and wear on a CF drive

I'm using a solid state drive in my Slackware system... All partitions are mounted with the 'noatime' option to minimize writes.

    Toby framebuffer losing sync

Success! I picked up an AppleColor M0401 for twenty bucks on Ebay. It works perfectly with the Toby. 8-)

    Toby framebuffer losing sync

I finally got my hands on a CRT monitor, and a proper PC to Mac video cable. I tried every setting on my sync-adapter. No luck... The CRT monitor won't sync at all. I've ordered another Toby, but I'm starting to think I need a real Mac RGB 13/14 inch monitor

    Centris (V)RAM info, just offhand...

I have a Quadra 610 with two VRAM simms... not sure what size they are, but I can check for you on Monday. I'm pretty sure the C610 and Q610 use the same VRAM.

    Toby framebuffer losing sync

I just picked up an old Toby framebuffer (820-0198-A7) to use in my IIcx. The card seems to lose sync every few seconds - I'm trying to narrow down the cause. I'm using an LCD monitor with a home-made Mac-PC video cable... I can use this cable on other video cards, and the monitor will do...

    A/UX Installation Issues

Try this one... It seems to work with pretty much anything. http://www.aux-penelope.com/files/AUX_3.1_Boot.img.gz

    Flaky IIci

    Oh cool! Thanks!

    Flaky IIci

On closer inspection, there is a "greasy discoloration" around some of the caps... I think a capacitor-replacement is in order. I have some experience in soldering, so I don't think it will be a serious problem. [;)] ]'>

    Flaky IIci

I finally found some free time to rebuild my old IIci... The plan is to install A/UX 2.0 - something I've been putting off since around January of 2005. Unfortunately, my IIci is not cooperating. Everything was going fine on Monday morning... The IIci fired up with no issues, and confirmed...

    Macintosh Application Environment for Unix

    A/UX Handbook

Not my auction - No affiliation with the seller: http://cgi.ebay.com/The-A-UX-Handbook_W0QQitemZ260224868331QQihZ016QQcategoryZ67855QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem This version covers A/UX 1.1, so it's not terribly relevant to an A/UX 3.0 user... But it's still really cool to have...

    Pressing on towards the past

They're not exactly contemporary, but Jan L Harrington wrote a pair of really good books on A/UX (1.0 and 2.0). Both are out of print, of course. [:)] ]'> The A/UX Handbook (ISBN: 9780130548269) The A/UX 2.0 Handbook (ISBN: 9780201567847) These pdf's might come in handy too...
