New "Leopard Ports" Discord server now live!

No, I understand using Discord for discussion, it's really convenient for doing so. But if you have any results, it's worth sharing somewhere public.

New "Leopard Ports" Discord server now live!

Do you have your software/articles somewhere other than Discord? Putting them in Discord makes it harder to find them if you're not already in the group.

Experience and suggestions: setting up BlueSCSI with my Mac SE.

DMGs have a ton of header bits, usually just include a filesystem (so no partition map, kinda important for SCSI devices), and can be compressed (good luck doing that on the MCU).

    Quest: Wacom support in BasiliskII

I was looking into some older serial Wacom stuff for Next - I noticed that they implement other protocols (as an option?), such as the Calcomp/SummaSketch MM series (which seemed Hayes Smartmodem like, one or two char commands, some params, CR terminated) and a UIOF/Microgrid one that looks like...

    TashRouter: An AppleTalk Router

I run an IP mesh with some friends (done with normal VPN protocols and a little BGP), and we definitely run weird protocols on top of that. The whole AIR abuse is really cute, but not sustainable over the previously mentioned approach from a reliability, security, and performance standpoint. I...

Reading a GCC UltraDrive driver formatted disk

Mt. Everything hangs badly trying to mount it. It does seem to recognize the structure of it. Norton Disk Editor also seems to recognize that there's a partition there. What did work is using CiderPress 2 (not the original) - it does recognize the weird encapsulation just fine. I was able to...

Reading a GCC UltraDrive driver formatted disk

I got a Mac SE with some very interesting contents on the disk, so I plugged a ZuluSCSI into it into initiator mode. Now I have a disk image. Great! ...except for the fact I can't get this image to mount at all. If I look at a hex dump of the disk, I see some stuff that implies it's using a GCC...

Apple YOINKS everything good... Let's fix it

You're talking about without proposing anything concrete. Running older software in virtualization has been done for years. What are you trying to accomplish here?

    Can't get BeOS burnt properly

BeOS is weird and uses two data tracks; one for the ISO+HFS part, and another for the BeFS part. Chances are your burning software might not be able to cope with this.

Lost icons for applications on OS7.5.3

As for associations: Mac OS is ignorant of file extensions. What matters is creator type (the application it belongs to) and file type of a file; each are four character codes. You can use ResEdit to reassociate files as a result.

.TTF and Mac OS 9 Problems

Make sure the fonts have the proper creator types - that's what matters to the classic Mac OS.

68K/early PPC with onboard AAUI 100mbps ethernet?

The Mac was never going to be a gaming platform due to Apple's apathy towards it post-II and the Mac's poor suitability towards gaming. Big framebuffers + no acceleration features like sprites + slow CPU + slow I/O between those = bad gaming platform. For the audio you got, mono was a silly...

F-Secure SSH Client for MacOS 9

Keep in mind this won't last forever; OpenBSD upstream aggressively removes support for older busted crypto. The ideal would be for someone to graft a newer lsh onto MacSSH, graft a modern SSH stack onto MacSSH, or just backport protocols.

    Lightweight browser

iCab, but it won't run on 4 MB or System 6. The browser you want doesn't exist. Either upgrade your system to handle a larger one (you couldn't even run Netscape) or learn to live with the minimal formatting of the 3.2 and lower world.
