dude, I think that iMac "Yum" poster is not a genuine one... if that's a pic of what you ordered. the official Apple one says "Yum." Also it doesn't have the Apple logo above the "Think different" text...
Well, maybe it's really made by Apple , but I feel really doubtful about it. hehhe...
nice score! I wouldn't mind getting a Cube one day, but really I'll only grab one if I happen upon a good deal. Hasn't happened yet, so I don't have one yet. hahaha :)
New update, after a couple more hours in the sunset:
retr0bright in-progress streaking on SE/30 case by amatecha, on Flickr
A bit worried by that streaking but I think that's just because I haven't done a nice FULL afternoon with multiple reapplications (including full cleaning each time)...
Awesome find, and auto-OCR'ed PDFs of those would be badass!
Also cool to see an old HL name on here. I used to go by "Necromancer" on there but you prolly won't remember me (altho I recognize your name right away). Either way, HL guy here since '97 :)
Yeah on Netscape you'll get TONS of JavaScript errors on every site. It's pretty terrible and there doesn't appear to be any way to turn off the error popups. So.. even loading google.com results in like 3 error windows every time. Ultra weaksauce :(
haha, no way! Nice! I had a feeling between Flickr, Facebook, Twitter, Macintosh Garden and here that I'd have to bump into you at some point! hahaha :)
Dude, you should slap System 7.1 on that machine. You're seriously running 7.5 on a machine with 5mb of RAM? It's going to crawl. I highly recommend dropping back to 7.1 if your software is compatible. It uses way less memory and is typically somewhat faster.
If you drop back to 7.1, turn...
I'm using the same technique as JDW from these forums, which he outlined in his Flickr photo at:
Basically I'm using corn starch instead of xanthan gum for thickener. It's way easier to find, and really cheap at that.
Very simple process actually! Just takes a bit of time to get...
Check it out.. retr0bright progress on my SE/30 .. just doing the rear case so far.
That's with just about 2 hours of sunlight in the evening, and then having it under a black light overnight. Not bad at all! Another afternoon should finish it off! Totally excited to have it side-by-side...
true, I was actually thinking of doing exactly that. I already have some nice thermal paste from building PCs at work, and well, who doesn't have epoxy? Although, I wonder if the CPU heat would deteriorate it at all??
Amazingly informative post. Thanks! I just picked up an SE/30 on the weekend and this will be an extremely valuable chunk of info for when I finally get my hands on an ethernet card!
That's awesome. The LC was my first computer as well. You've started him off right! ;)
Really though, it's a perfect system to start with IMO. Although I started with System 7.0 and had a TON of fun messing with ResEdit and doing tons of crazy stuff to the system. I got it when I was...
Successfully swapped in a full 68040 into my "new" LC 475 last night. It's a 33mhz '040 from my parents' old Quadra 950. No, sorry, it's not available - they only kept the motherboard which thankfully still had the CPU and all of the RAM on it! Anyway, I haven't yet done the resistor-swap to...
Scored these two guys last weekend.
LC 475
SE/30
$20 for the LC 475 and $45 for the SE/30 ,each came with a keyboard and mouse. Good deal IMO. Although the 475 had some kind of acid/liquid leakage inside.. but I cleaned that up with isopropyl alcohol. It doesn't SEEM to have damaged...
