Did you ever try to open one if the hard drives from these machines? The drive that came with this one spins but does not seek, so I wonder if a delicate nudge on the head assembly would help... it is dead anyways...
There’s a rubber bumper in those that turns sticky and gets the heads stuck. Open it up, tape over the bumper, and if there’s nothing else wrong it will start working.
It is indeed in great condition! The screen is perfect. I bought it because I wanted the power brick, floppy and battery for my other system and it was cheaper this way. Well I guess PB100 are like cats and now I have to keep it...
Nada that would have been to easy Project for a next day when I get the missing cap.
BUT I resurrected the hard disk! I'm genuinely amazed. I just.. started seeking and worked. I managed to boot from it and copy everything out!
3lectr1c returns to his basement for the first time in 50 years. He walks over to where his PowerBook 150 once sat. A pile of components is strewn over the desk, surrounded by a large pile of light gray dust.
LOL IRL I'm actually sorta of an archeologist, I'm a historian (and for fun a computer scientist, or vice-versa) and I spent lots of time tracking down and transcribing manuscripts from the seventeenth century. Saving the hard drive gave me the same sense of satisfaction! (but on the HD there was nothing interesting, just some personal documents, but still...!)
