Radius.sea.hqx - the Holy Grail of drivers . . .

Trash80toHP_Mini

NIGHT STALKER
68040
.  .  .  for all things Radius/Compact Mac.

If you've ever downloaded anything related from anywhere, please search for this missing link. Someone recovered archive.org's backup of much the macdrivermuseum content, including files listed on either side of this missing driver collection.

Here's the info on the missing Mac Driver Museum download:

Radius.sea.hqx  *** RadiusWare Disks for Mac Classic / SE / Plus

This is a complete copy of RadiusWare for the
Mac Classic, Mac SE, and Mac Plus.  It
includes an installer program that will
determine what files your system will need to
work with your installed Radius Products.
                            It includes the following software:

                                  RadiusWare CDEV v.2.0
Classic / SE / Plus Display CDEV v.4.1
                                  RadiusMATH v. 1.5
                                  Radius Accelerator v. 2.9
                                  Responder v. 2.0.2
                                  AppleTalk v. 56.0

This software is to be used for the following
                            Radius Products:

Accelerator 16 and 25 for the Mac SE

Full Page Display Interfaces for Mac
Classic, Mac SE and Mac Plus

                            Two Page Display Interfaces
                            for the Mac SE.

It also provides System 7 compatibility for
these products in conjunction with the proper
                            version of ROMS.

LOL! ;)

Anybody know of a good CD and Zip cataloging program for OS9, that'd be a big help too. I've got a metric crapload of the things to go through as well as a small box full of Developer CDs.

The only zip program that's reliable for me is MacZip. I think that's the one... don't know about cataloging ones though

Hi Johnnya101, I think he means the portable medium as made popular by Iomega.

Hi Trash, there is a great cataloguing program on the MacFormat CD. Future Publishing used it on each CD as a database of all of the files and programs in their previous CDs.

If I remember correctly, it was called Disk Wizard. There is a link to it here: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/diskwizard-20

There are images of Mac Format CDs also on the Mac garden.

One thing that might work for your crapload of data is to centralize it on something like a QNAP NAS, the system will do all the cataloging for you, and you can sort it all as you fit. FTP for the old boxes, SMB for the modern ones.

As time goes by, more and more of this old stuff will start disappearing.

They always say "the internet is forever" but thats not always the case. hosting comes and goes, etc.. and so will that data.

The only thing that seem to have stayed around is newsgroups and their archives, even though most if not all ISPs have done away with news servers. I know mine has.

The WWW only approaches forever when something is embarrassing to a celebrity or when some group decides their version of THE TRUTH needs to be kept alive. All else is ephemeral. :-/

In the old days a website would link a file from an FTP site, so even if the WWW site was saved the FTP site would be gone forever. Quite a few old files and updates were stored on dialup sites like CompuServe and are lost forever.

I try to get as many driver files as I can, and distribute them as needed.

Funny you should say that. I've been downloading those and everything else I think I might ever need from http://radius.vintagebox.de/just now. With some luck, RadiusWare 2.0 might be a compilation of that earlier set, maybe with add'l software? That would be really nice.

< crosses fingers >

I... MIGHT have that. Not totally sure though. I definitely have a radius accelerator 16 in my SE and the driver disk for it in my archive. Unsure of the version.

On a related note I don't have the sys7 updated ROMs on my board and it makes it a bit flakey....

If only I had a motherboard with ISA slots so I could use my PROM burner again!

Oh crap, I recycled a half dozen of those less than six months ago.

I'll take a look, I hope I saved a couple of interesting ones. What are the OS requirements?

edit: glad I'm off today, mine's an older 650B rev 1.2 version of the 650BX manual.

Dunno if it works, but it's got a CPU. I scrounged the assortment (this is the only one remaining) from boxes left by the recycling bin of the complex sometime in the last eight years, so it's likely a working board from an upgrade castoff. Don't think it's a case pull from a thrift store because it'd still have the memory on board. Shoot me a mailing address.

In terms of storage, I'm a HUGE fan of the Magneto Optical drives.  I have two 2.3GB 3.5" Fujitsu drives.  I love them.  Plus, the disks look cool. :)

Found a file called radius_drivers.zip so I tried it first. Top window was the Stuffit Expander results. Lower windows are the unstuffed contents of the three files.

Appears to lack the nifty installer in Radius.sea.hqx. But with any luck, RadiusWare2.0 will be an updated, full installer type version of the standalone CDEV included in the Holy Grail.

BUG REPORTS:  the image uploader seems to have been borked. When I browse a file selection and then click "Attach This File," the selection appears to be cleared and I get "Error No file was selected for upload." Hence the iFrog pic linkage. I keep Flash off the system, so I can't report results from that upload method.

Dunno if it's just the sort order or if we've lost some emoticons, but that's another issue raised by the recent maintenance session.
