KURB's World - Vintage Macs, PCs and more

I would have to probably say this is my favorite apple branded monitor i own, Multiple Scan 20. Can't go wrong with a 20" trinitron. I took a bunch of pictures with measurements for @feeef who plans to sometime in the future 3d print a replacement stand. As far as CRT monitors this is one of apple's finest ever for sure.

Another interesting monitor. In decent shape but cosmetically it has some rust on the speakers. As of now untested. Not positive what the adapter is i think its DB-15 but with audio cables. Looks nice. Thats it for the night for me off to work, again....

I read in the past some people disliked these monitors around here. I never used it. But its the first monitor from apple with a mic and speakers, and its a trinitron. So idk why.

that's the breakout adapter that allows you to use the monitor with machines that don't have the HDI-45 port... like the quadra 840 it was marketed with.

it's a perfectly nice display... as long as the plastics aren't crumbling. from what I remember it's a trinitron, basically an apple m1212 with speakers bolted on.

The plastics are perfect aside from a light yellowing, the picture makes it look worse than it actually is as i didnt use any flash and had a warm bulb on in the room.

The big issue for me is the rust on the speaker covers. I do understand the how brittle these plastics are so taking those covers off, im not sure what that requires as far as taking the monitor case apart, and thats something i really dont want to risk. Any suggestions for removing that rust and maybe repainting them or something?

It reminds me exactly of my lc 575 plastic. When I took that thing apart for the first time, the only time, to clean it, i was so very careful. And all the screw posts blew up when i put it back together. Then a little piece chipped off where the 2 sides meet. Just brutal

might be a pain to get them off. i'd use rust converter or evaporust on the metal, then sand a bit and spray coat with something that matches the colour somewhat

I think maybe ill try to give them a light scrub with something not super abrasive, maybe one of those green scrubbing pads for doing dishes and wet it and see what it does to start. And yeah try to match the paint with something like a krylon rattle can, tape off the surrounding parts with painters tape and give it a real light back and forth as to not plug the holes in the screens.

I am going to look into these rust compounds you mentioned as i have no experience with them
