G4 Cube processor spacer

Hi all, I pulled my G4 cube apart to add a fan and I also repasted the processor, during this is lost one of the little spacers between the motherboard and the processor board. I searched my dining room top to bottom and couldn't find it so it must have walked somewhere else. I was curious and assembled the computer to see if it would still work and it did so I wanted to ask few questions.

1. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?
2. Are there any long term side effects of not using the spacer?
3. Is the spacer super critical to the mac functioning?

Thank you all for your time.

First picture is the spacer second picture is the cube with the missing spacer and the installed spacer.

It's not loose somewhere inside the Cube is it? You may be able to buy one from a Cube that's being parted out, but as you've found it is not critical.

If it were my Cube, I'd probably make one out of plastic. A piece of Bic pen maybe?

Maybe you can find a standard metallic spacer that would fit? It would not have the smaller rings protruding from each end, but I think those are only there to facilitate assembly.

A ten minute job for someone with a lathe if you wanted a like for like replacement.

Similarly quick with a 3d printer.

I'd replace it either way, there is potential for the spring pressure to warp the board over time and possibly cause bad connections in the connector...

I had thought this too for awhile but I didn't find it after removing the DVD drive it genuinely walked away

Bic pen is a great idea!

Ih'll have to see if the inner diameter is a match

Lost items always end up in the most improbable places!

And by the way, anyone knows why there is a sticker on the IDE cable that says DVD RAM FOLD LINE, as can be seen in this photo? Did Apple consider a DVD RAM option for the Cube?

I didnt even realize it was ram, I thought it had said ROM, ive noticed a few different things with the cube, like I feel the qc wasnt the best, ive seen a few crooked components soldered to the board, even my processor had a misaligned component.

Did any macs even support dvd ram?
