Aquafox - new web browser for G4 running OS X Tiger

Aquafox 1.0 for G3 and G4 running OS X Tiger and Leopard, was just released on November 5, 2024. It's supposed to be an update of InterwebPPC. Download link at Macintosh Repository https://www.macintoshrepository.org/75479-aquafox

That’s the important thing! Just wondering, what would stop it working on Panther? Is the OS that different?

Panther to Tiger involved a major GCC bump as well as some significant Core API changes. This all resulted in massive speed improvements, partly by taking advantage of hardware acceleration in ways that Panther wasn't designed to do. The result? Compile for Panther and have to reimplement a bunch of stuff and have it run really slow, or compile for Tiger and have it zip along like it is a modern system.

Now I feel bad for never having bought a copy of Tiger. I think I stuck with 10.3.9 on my iMac G5 and my PBG4 12" came with Tiger install discs. I the last one I bought was Leopard (and the Snow Leopard upgrade). OTOH I only currently have 160MB on the G3, and the SATA project is ongoing!

I was disappointed this morning to find that I could not download the latest version of AquaFox from GitHub using the previous version of AquaFox I guess I'll get it on there via network or USB eventually.

Github hates every browser I've tried on PPC Macs. Aquafox is solid, I'm liking it.
