  1. Hello everyone! My SCSI Zip drive is having some problems lately. At first my SE/30 freezes if the Zip inserted is not properly recognized. The Zip drive suddenly stops and the whole thing crashes. It seemed to happen with just one faulty cartridge, but now I can’t read any of them. Should I change to something more reliable? Maybe a Jaz Drive? The Zip is very useful for transferring files between my SE/30 and a G3 iMac with a USB Zip drive, so I hope to achieve the same with another peripheral. I’m not sure I am ready to buy a SCSI2SD, but I’m open to suggestions.
  2. My Power Macintosh G4 Sawtooth came with an internal Zip drive, but it doesn’t work. I installed IomegaWare under OS 9 and I could see the drive light up and make noise, but IomegaWare told me there was no disk. The disks I was using were NOS Fujifilm PC formatted Zip 100 disks. The front flap of the drive fell inside it at some point, but I was able to get that piece out. When I realized the drive wasn’t working, I disconnected the power and data cables from it. I intended to remove it, but I couldn’t figure out how to get it out, so I let it stay in there. I’m now wondering
  3. Hello everyone! My SE/30 has always had a weird problem: if I boot from the internal hard disk, most of the time the system software doesn't load, and the floppy icon appears (as if the HDD took to long to spin). This happens almost every time, maybe it will boot once every 20 times or more, and mostly at cold boot. But if I connect a SCSI Zip drive (even without a cartridge), the Mac boots just fine to System 7.5.5. I have a 8gb hard drive with five partitions, the system folder is in partition 1. Otherwise it's a stock SE/30 that needs recapping (no sound). RAM is 8mb. An
  4. Have a IIcx with a SCSI2SD (v5) and a ROM-inator II. The Zip drive works just once after each power-up. Second boot seem to obstruct the SCSI2SD, leaving just the flashing-question-mark-disk on screen. Is this a termination problem? /k
  5. I've got an Iomega Zip 100 drive connected to my Mac Classic through the external SCSI port (with a SCSI 5 ID), and it works just fine. However, I've just picked up a Zip 100 Plus drive and tried to connect that to my Mac Classic instead of the usual standard 100, and I am simply not getting any joy. What happens is that if the Plus is connected through the SCSI connector (the plus has a combined Parallel/SCSI port), even if the drive is not powered up, when the Mac starts up I just get the flashing question-mark in a disk telling me the system isnt behaving. I have tried the Plus using bo
