  3. hi! Long time lurker, first time poster. I've recently resurrected a Mac SE FDHD, which I bought on Craigslist for a mere $30. What's been done so far: 1) recap motherboard 2) recap analog board 3) recap PSU 4) added SCSI2SD 5) replaced 2.5MB RAM SIMMS with 4MB RAM 6) replaced solder on Yoke connector on analog board 7) retrobrighted case The machine works and boots really fast. However, I've noticed that there are now intermittent horizontal lines seem to appear and disappear. It's almost as if the screen is having tiny
  4. Hello, unfortunately the vertical adjustment pot on my Mac SE analog board broke does anybody know where I can get a compatible replacement, many thanks!
  5. I just got a Macintosh SE/30 a few days ago and want to do an LCD conversion with original hardware (none of that silly Raspberry Pi or Mac Mini board business). CRT is damaged, so perfect excuse for a fun project (hopefully I don't eat those words). I would imagine this type of mod involves pairing the right screen and card together (computer came with a Radius FPDSE30 if that helps at all).
  6. Hello, I am need of some help regarding how to start troubleshooting my Mac SE SuperDrive Model M-5011, 2.5mb ram, 100mb hdd It has been working for about 4 years and today it stopped working. I tried to update the OS from 7.0.0 to 7.0.1 and it said my drive may be corrupted as a warning and canceled the installation. I then restarted the Mac and I receive a Sad Mac error 0000000f 0000000c. I have looked up the error and have not been able to find online exactly what it means. I have found that it could be a nothing error, but not sure what that means or where to go with that.
  7. StuffIt 3.5 can’t see some .sit fires. I tried to install Aladin StuffIt 5.something and I don’t have 8mb or RAM on my 4mb SE. is there another software repository where everything for 68k is stored in floppy format (.dsk)? I am using SCSI2SD and Floppy Emu. Thanks.
  8. I recently picked up a Macintosh SE for $5. The hard disk was dead, as I expected. I put in a boot disk and turned the computer back on. However, I soon realized I was using a System 1.1 Boot disk, which is not compatible with the SE. I don't have an ADB mouse/keyboard, only a 128k/512k/Plus keyboard and mouse. I tried pulling out the disk (I didn't know about the pinhole by the disk drive when I was doing this) , and it came out. I noticed that a small metal bracket is now in the middle of the floppy drive. Is this normal? I noticed it moves upwards when the mac is turned on. I am having some
  9. By posting this inflammatory thread I know the flames will rage high! So let it burn! Ha! Lets throw hats and chew the fat, discuss about experiences and techno-babble, and explain why it is to you. I surmise that the SE\30 will rank high, though it is not without its problems: Recapping and Cap Goo Trace Rot being the worst of them. But the SE does not have these problems though they have most of the same components. Then you have the Classic and Classic II. Though the Classic will rank well along with the SE as a 68K machine, the Classic II is another issue altogether. Then there
  10. I recently bought and repaired a Mac SE - but whenever it boots, about a third of the screen is blurry. I assumed it was a logic board problem, but testing both the SE board in an SE/30 (which worked fine) and the SE/30 board in the SE (which produced the lines) revealed that it's actually an analog board issue. I've already replaced any leaky caps to no avail. Any ideas?
  11. From the album: Vintage 200

One of 5 SE i have, not all like this.
