I recently got an iBook G4 and when I turned it on a folder with (Classic) Mac OS logo and question mark appeared, it seem like Mac OS X isn't installed. Mac OS X Tiger install CD came with it, unfortunately it was only an upgrade CD but it was useful enough to make sure that the hard drive is alive. So how can I install Mac OS X on this iBook?

Hello crews, I hope to find someone here who has a working PowerBook/iBook G3/G4 running Mac OS 9.x and who could help me with the hibernation feature in pre-OS X Mac OS. Mac OS 9 does support system hibernation like OS X does ("Safe Sleep"). It seems to work on laptops only - I wasn't able to activate it in my iMac G3 indigo. This feature can be supposedly enabled in the Energie saver control panel. There should be a check box "Preserve memory contents on sleep" in the "Advanced settings" tab. Can someone running Mac OS 8-9 verify if the above mentioned option is p

Gamer choosing betwen 10.4.11 & 10.5.8
winterlight posted a topic in G3/G4/G5 Power Mac, iMac & eMac
Hi guys, Here's a scenario that only the experienced gurus of the Mac Liberation Army can answer. Hi guys, I'm trying to install Mac OS 10.4 on a Power Mac G5 (11,2) The install disc I'm using is a 10.4 Install Disk with Xcode 2 that I bought from eBay. When I try to boot from the DVD I get a kernel panic. The kernel version is Darwin 8.0.0 I then tried to boot into Safe Mode where the topline error is "Unable to find driver for this platform: PowerMac11,2" Looking further on eBay it appears that nobody differentiates versions of Mac OS that are compatible with the 11.2 hardware revision for the G5. When I try to boot into single user mode I get a kernel panic again.
