  1. I have a working 1.67GHz PowerBook G4 logic board and a 1.5GHz A1106 model with bad video. Would it be possible to replace the logic board in my 1.5 with the 1.67?
  2. I have a Q950 that won't boot up properly. When I power it up, there is a startup chime, but it is very distorted and hardly recognizable. The only video output is a distorted blue screen. I've tried two monitors, a Color Display and a generic Dell VGA with a DB-15 adapter. I've tried reseating the RAM and unplugging/plugging back in the hard drive/CD drive. Is this a sign of capacitor failure? Or has something else gone wrong with the logic board? Thank you for help in advance.
  3. Good to know! I'll be sure to post more detailed pictures once I get the board. The seller didn't take pictures of the ribbon cable, but I'll assume that's its DB-25. Regarding the Mac Plus ROMs, would I need to just solder them where the empty slots are?
  4. Recently scored a 512k logic board on eBay and it came with a "Relax" upgrade. I presume it's some sort of CPU or RAM upgrade but I couldn't find anything online. Anyone have any info?
  5. Guess I'm off to OWC then, lol! Thanks for the help.
  6. I found a good deal on RAM and I'd like to use it in my Quadra 950. I figured I'd double check to make sure that it was compatible before I pulled the trigger. http://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-32MB-72-pin-60ns-FPM-SIMM-Non-Parity-Memory-8x32-5V-64MB-RAM-Apple-Macintosh/131731398035?_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIM.MBE%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D45701%26meid%3D9d8ec5de971a44e18a0e177231980c4d%26pid%3D100005%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D6%26sd%3D131727166145&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
  7. Also, I recently bought a dead TAM with no power. I received it today and opened up the power supply. I found this inside: It looks like someone attempted to repair it and put some sort of resin over all the components. It also looks like they tried to solder the orange wire and damaged some components and the PCB. Would this be possible to repair? Or would I need a new base unit/PSU?
  8. Yep, turns out two of them were dead.
  9. Update: She lives! There were four sticks in Bank A that weren't compatible. I've never seen RAM like this and can't find any info online. Does anyone know anything about them?
  10. Is the VRAM located underneath the power supply? If so, all the slots are empty. I've tried disconnecting the hard drive, floppy drive, and CD drive as basic troubleshooting but still get the same problem.
  11. Update: The Quadra was on sale for $75, so I decided to bite the bullet and go for it. I brought it home, opened it up, and found a Daystar PowerPro 601 accelerator inside! I believe it is the 100MHz model. I also found a good SuperMac video card as well. The only problem with this unit is that I get no picture through both the graphics card and built in video. There's a startup chime followed immediately by a death chime, and then the machine seems to boot up normally, except for the blank screen.
  12. Thanks for all the info! Copyright dates on the ROM and PCB are both '93. I'm having problems getting the Quadra itself to display any video through either the card or the built in video port. I've tried two monitors (Macintosh Color Display and generic Dell VGA) but still no video. The rest of the startup process seems to go well, but there's no chime.
  13. I found this video card in a Quadra 950 I picked up. I can't really find anything about it online, but from what I've heard it's a pretty high end card. Does anyone have any extra info?
  14. Awesome! This one appears to be complete, but I haven't tested it with a monitor. I can hear a hard drive spinning and I get the boot chime, so it looks pretty promising. The case is in very good condition as well, there is some yellowing but no scratches.
  15. Almost had a good find today at Goodwill. They had a 2006 Mac Pro, an Apple IIe, and a Quadra 950. Our Goodwill must have started using eBay as a reference point, because all of them were priced at $150.
