  1. Does Classic II offer booting from ROM Disk as well? I find this feature really cool and useful.
  2. https://amitopia.com/new-buffee-amiga-accelerator-is-aiming-at-reaching-1000-mips/ 3.2 GHz 68030 anyone?
  3. hi, I am bidding on US version of the 512k sold here in Europe as "untested", "condition unknown". There's probability someone tried to power it on without any proper step up/down transformer. What could get fried besides analogue board? I am hesitating if it's worth buying for parts. Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
  4. another clever idea - Raspberry Pi emulates really fast 68000 CPU with huge chunk of memory while the rest of original hardware works as usual https://twitter.com/Claude1079/status/1330154148113887234
  5. hey guys, any specific reason to use 030 in compact Macs still limited to 1bit video? Can you name any software other than flightsims that would utilize more power or demand better CPU than 68000? TBH I always thought it would be nice to use MC68HC000 based turbo which runs as fast as 50 mhz https://retro.7-bit.pl/?lang=en&go=projekty&name=WICH508I anyway stable @ 33 MHz https://sordan.ie/product/583/turbo-card-hc533-33mhz-8mb-ram-ide-amiga-500/ It would make the system and apps snappier.
  6. the same thing happened to my Plus thanks to this nasty Ikea desk lamp.
  7. @MindWalker the easiest thing you could try is some acetone and try to smoothen the edges, but don't use any plastic tool as it will melt too. Try this on a small dent first, should work.
  8. BTW How can you tell if head motor is working? Anyone ever needed to change the floppy disk insertion sensors?
  9. I am quite pleased with Mac Rominator and RAM disk's performance "boost". Waiting for 64 MB Rambus thing by Garrett. BTW has anyone thought about putting MC68HC000 based accelerator inside Plus? It's quite popular in Amiga and Atari ST worlds these days, these processors can go up to 50 MHz and give you around 4 MIPS, which is almost twice as fast as 16 MHz 020.
  10. here's update: recapping the logic board worked magic and eliminated all these problems: - no sound - sudden slowdowns, when computer would stall and wait before completing tasks - hard drive inaccessibility - quite often the hdd wasn't present at booting
  11. Oops I thought I got 020 version. dove.racer.hqx
  12. ok thanks for reply. Need to check this while booted from Floppy/ROM.
  13. Hi, Luckily this one never had a leaky battery. Boots just fine, but never heard any sound from it. When I click play sound in System 7 Control Panel it crashes. Cleaned the board with IPA, especially around sound chip, put headphone jack back and forth. No progress. I am planning to recap the board, but I guess there's something else going wrong?
  14. Hi, Is it possible to damage Macintosh Plus keyboard chip with changing keyboards or/and cables while computer is on? Today I tested my two M0110A keyboards with Plus and self made modified cables (none of them were regular phone cord). One of my keyboards worked fine while using old version of Mac Paint in typing mode. Then I switched the keyboard while computer was working and now none of the keyboards work! I tried different cable while the computer still on - nothing. Maybe I should clean the keys and metal pins that connect the cable. Any other things yo
