  1. I have a Hard Disk 20SC external SCSI drive enclosure that has a SCSI ID selector switch on back. Because I am using a non-stock IBM DGHS 4.5GB drive inside, I've left the SCSI ID select switch cable disconnected. But I am eager to change the SCSI ID on the fly. Here's a photo of the drive label, showing the SCSI ID jumper settings: I believe the precise jumper settings follow what is shown on page 17 of this PDF. And here's a photo of the inside of my HD20SC (a still image from my PSU recapping video): It seems that an ST-225N was the stock drive and its SCSI ID jumpers seem to correspond to that blue connector in my above photo: What I am curious about is how the HD20SC's SCSI ID selector cable works. I haven't yet torn apart my HD20SC to figure it out myself. I will do that, but I wanted to post here first. The above ST-225N diagram shows 4 pairs of pins that can be shorted to select SCSI ID, but the drive enclosure's blue connector only has a 6-wire cable, meaning it could only control 3 pairs, not 4. Any thoughts?
  2. The flaky and stripy video was a broken 26-pin LCD monitor cable. Has anyone had this problem, and how was it fixed? Where would you find this kind of cable today and what is it called?
  3. Hi All, I am close to being able to put my SE/30's back together. I'd like to be able to run the machine with the motherboard out of the chassis as I saw someone on this forum doing. What I'd really like to be able to do is leave the stock cable plugged into the analog board then have an extension cable that gives ~2feet of room for the mobo to sit outside of its case. I believe the stock analog board to mobo cable is f/f. Does someone have the right crimper to build such a cable? Yes I could buy a stock cable on eBay for about $13 US but then it needs to be spliced and it wouldn't allow use of the stock cable being plugged into the analog board. THx
  4. G'day, After many years admiring, I finally bought a PowerMac G4 Cube a few years ago off eBay. Not a perfect specimen, but came with a 1.5Ghz Sonnet upgrade card, maxed RAM, decent hard drive... Unfortunately one thing I didn't realise at the time, was that it is missing the black 2pin cable that supplies power from the logicboard to the video card riser (shown in pic), to power the ADC port. As such, the Cube wont work with an Apple Studio Display. I've searched the net high and low, but can't find anyone selling the cable - whilst some sell the riser, they don't include the cable, and some sell the logicboard, but again no cable... As such I'm wondering if I'd be able to manufacture my own... Is there any Cube owners out there who could do me the huge favour of opening their Cube and getting some pics of the 2 connectors so I might be able to match them up with some off the shelf connectors?   5. Just under 11 years ago I started this thread on AppleFritter about trying to create a PDS extension cable for my SE/30. On Friday I finally got it working. Here is the recipe: 3x 40-wire: 40pc Dupont Wire Jumper Cable 1P-1P 2.54mm female to Female length 20cm readily available on Ebay 4x: 40 Pin 3.5" IDE Drive Gender Changer IDC Cable Adaptor also available on Ebay 1 right angle PDS adaptor I first tried this with this wire kit with one end male and the other female. The problem here was that the pin on the male end would not get enough purchase in the female PDS connection. That lead me to the IDE gender benders: To get to 120 pins, 4 of these are needed however one row of pins in not used. Each wire has a single connector and they can be fiddly getting them to mate on the male PDS connection. To ease the process, I split the 40 wire bundle into 2 of 20 wires and this made things a bit easier to get wired up. Female wire goes to the base of the IIsi card with PDS passthrough and accelerator slots. IDE gender benders go in the other end and then into the right angle PDS. Above is the completed mess of wires (minus the right angle PDS) mounted to my IIsi. The Daystar card had an Asante network card installed and the IIsi fired right up. I let this system run for a few hours and there were no issues so I knew I had good progress so... right angle PDS adaptor added to the IDE gender bender end and then inserted into the Asante card. Asante card then goes in to the SE/30 PDS slot. Into the Daystar cart goes the 50mhz accelerator. Then in goes the Micron Exceed card: Added the SSD: Then fired it up. The first time I hit the power switch, nothing. Oops, I never plugged it in. Tried again when plugged in and Shazam, it fires up! Screen of a few apps showing what is running: Now this was not as stable as in the IIsi as after a few minutes I get a bus error: I am guessing that this is due to the S bends on the 3 rows of wires pulling on the connections. I had some family things to tend to so I needed to put this away however it was pretty exciting to finally get this working. This setup is Gamba's SE/30ecgs and with a bit more shaping of the wire I think I'll be able to get the connections snug so that I don't get the bus error. While this is good progress with the Daystar cards, where I plan to use this is when I can get the Carerra 040 hacked to work in a SE/30 as described in these threads: Need help with MicroMac Carrera040 in a SE/30 SE/40 Grayscale: Need help with a Carrera hack

    SCSI Zip drive cable

    I have a SCSI Zip 250 drive, but unfortunately, I have no cable for it. Where might I find a replacement? Will any DB-25 male-to-male cable do? If not, why not?
