Hello All,

My Uncle got his hands on an original Mac (Pre-128 Badge).

I was wondering if anybody knows where I might find the original demo program for his display?

(Or any of the early in-store demo programs for that matter)

Thx

Probably lost somewhere, someone here tried to recreate the demo, but don't know if he was able to finished it.

Keep in mind that the demo worked in the prototype of the 512k (the board was a 512 in the original 128 casing) the original Macintosh was not able to make it work.

Yeah. Unfortunately, like Bibilit said, it wasn't possible to run the demo on a 128k in 1984. It still isn't possible today. That demo required so much RAM!!

slomacuser recreated the original 1984 demo. It's the one from the Macintosh Introduction during Apple's Annual Shareholders Meeting on January 24, 1984.

He used to host it somewhere on the 68kmla I think, but the link went dead.

The files won't fit on a single 400k disk either. You need two 800k floppies. So it works on a 512Ke and up (even on an SE/30)

I asked him to send me the files, and here they are:

Here is the HD20 version for floppy EMU https://dl.dropboxus...10/HD20.dsk.zip

and here is the 800k version, use the startup disk first

https://dl.dropboxus...System DIsk.dsk

https://dl.dropboxus... Intro 800k.dsk

It even works on mini vMac.

All credit goes to slomacuser! This demo is awesome!

COOL STUFF: Working original & nearly complete 1984 Macintosh w/ Picasso kit, still looking for a G440 mouse :p, NIB Newton MessagePad from 1993, iMac G3 400MHz DV Graphite

IN THE WORKS: The outstanding SE/30 (50MHz Powercache, Pivot Display Color Graphics) but also non-working 512K Hyperdrive w/ Manuals & Disks, Mac Portable M5126, SE Dual 800k, Classic II, HD40SC, Apple Djinn... I have a lot of restorations going on!

Sweet dudes! Thanks!

Won't run on a 128k :) Seems appropriate sitting here is a foot and a half of snow in Salt Lake City Utah!

Gotta try the files.

Uncle has a a 512, plus, SE, SE/30, gonna get him to try it on his Color Classic!

I asked him to send me the files, and here they are

Could you re-host these files? Looks like the links have gone dead with the DropBox sharing changes.

Sure. I have them somewhere. But you need to ask Slomacuser about putting them on the garden first...

Edit: I have a backup on my dropbox. So you can get them here for now.

Again, all credit goes to Slomacuser.

If we can get them put on the Garden, that would be very useful.

Macintosh SE SuperDrive, Macintosh SE/30, Apple IIgs ROM3, ImageWriterBanger II.

Currently building the amazing 68040! Performa (Quadra??!!) 638CD gets 40MHz full '040 [;)] , Ethernet, 136MB RAM, AV input card, and maybe something else. Should have performance comparable to the Quadra 840av when done! (A/UX doesn't work, but I still like this little guy right here: [:P] )
