  1. Hi, I've recently repair a LC III macintosh. It had a 500 Mb Quantum Apple disk, but ir doesn't work. I change the disk with an IBM 1 GB. I tried to install several times system 7.5, and I did, but when I shut down the computer, the HD didn't boot up. I have to start up from a diskette and then with LIDO or something similar mount it and then, always that I restart (don't shutdown) the mac start up fine. I try to initialize the HD with LIDO and with tha patched version of the Apple HD util, but no success Please do you have any idea about what to do?? Thanks in advance
  2. Want to watch movies in 720p on your higher end G4 without maxing the CPU? Good, there is a way! All of this is referenced on a 20” iMac G4 1.25ghz w/ 2GB RAM running OS X 10.5.8. CPU usage for the playback runs right around 50% utilization. Based on that, playback is using up ~625mhz of the CPU. The remaining system is using 10% CPU, so ~125mhz. With all that said, I’d say this probably won’t work smoothly for single CPU systems clocked below 750mhz. I’m not sure if it can split into multiple threads, so a safe bet for dual CPU systems is probably at least 625mhz clock. At any rate, the instructions... Download MPlayer OSX PPC 1.0 rc1 With the playback controller selected, go to MPlayer OSX -> Preferences Select Video & Audio tab check Drop frames on slower machines set video out module to CoreVideo(BETA) Select Miscellaneous tab check Enable AltiVec check Use Cache (I set the slider to 8 ) Click OK, quit MPlayer completely. Reopen and load a 720p divx video file. Video plays smoothly in window and full screen. I have tested this on a divx version of Sunshine (2007), and there is no stutter, dropped frames, or video - soundtrack separation throughout the entire movie. MPlayer_OSX_PPC.zip
  3. Green I suppose, but where can I find a new one? And how are they measured? Thank you, /K
  4. I'm currently repairing an SE/30 and an SE FDHD, and I'm considering different ways of improving their data storage capabilities. Especially on the SE FDHD since it lacks a harddrive. I'm also short on money, and the CF memory card solution seems to be fairly expensive with the SCSI-to-IDE adapter. Are there any cheap routes that I have missed, besides getting a used scsi harddrive?

    Mac SE/30 Hard drive issue

Hi, I got a hd issue with my Mac SE/30. Previously, I had totally recapped it and I replaced UE8 chip to solve a weird screen issue. Suddenly I got the blinking floppy icon at the startup. In another thread, uniserver suggested hd breakage. My SE/30 has a 40mb quantum hd. I tried to create boot floppies following this site: http://www.classic-computers.org.nz/blog/2011-12-29-disk-from-images-mac.htm but my mac only makes only strange noises and splits the discs out (dirty floppy drive??) At the moment i can't boot the system. I know mac se/30 uses SCSI 50pins, a rare standard hard to find (I'm in Italy). I'd like to know what's the cheapest solution to replace my hd (by an adapter or something similiar) and make my system usable again. I can't afford expensive items...
