  1. @AlpineRaven I agree 100% that cap goo is toxic as well as any trace things found on the board like lead. NEVER wash in a household dish washer. Just buy a cheap ultrasonic cleaner.

Apple Network Server (ANS) 700/200 repair

In that case rebuilding the power supply is what I would do, there may be a fuse in there. Unfortunately, I don’t have access to schematics.

Apple Network Server (ANS) 700/200 repair

Yes that machine has a few interlocks if I recall correctly. Many of which appear to be a power supply issue when in fact it’s just not closed or locked.
  4. If this was recapped I’d happily pay $200!

Is an inverter bi-directional: 74LS04 specifically?

@ZaneKaminski Thanks! Most of that makes sense to me. And considering I'm not an engineer, that's a good think. @Trash80toHP_Mini will be busy for the next couple weeks with other projects, but after that we will try to make something happen. We will let you know what we find. Thanks again!!

Just wanted to bump this post to see if anyone can help us get past this one last final step. I'm Happy to Offer a Reward!

ROMBUS - 64 MB flash interface for Mac Plus

@ZaneKaminski Thanks for your reply. I'd also be interested in a collaboration with sharing of the sales of the part. The reason I suggested a direct pay was that in addition to wanting to develop such a card I have 1,500 (you read that right) brand new LC Ethernet cards. But I'm sure some arrangement could be made to make it great for everyone. With SE/30 Ethernet cards alone bringing $150, it would be a really good place to start. Unfortunately, I don't have much electrical engineering knowledge, I'm more on the business and hobbyist side of things. @Bolle created a SE/30 > Cache/Pass-though card already so we just need to figure out how to make it work with LC PDS Pass-though. @Trash80toHP_Mini has been doing much of the technical work including mapping. @Trash80toHP_Mini what do you think of the method he mentioned regarding our issue? I do have an electrical engineer who can actually do the design work once we have on paper what we need. Unfortunately, I'm stuck at this point. I read and replied in AppleFriter the WiFi & Bluetooth Card would be amazing I'd buy some of this. The SE ROM replacement sounded interesting as well, especially if it can be programmed. If that is possible, I'd like to buy a whole pile of those! You guys have some really great designs! Places like Reactive Micro can also be distributors for the Apple II cards if you reach a deal with them. That could allow more sales for your cars if that's what your interested in. Anyway, keep up the great work.

    (Failed) Conquest

Very sad to hear. Yes, I’m sure it will get tossed. The good news is if they try to sell it you’ll know it’s yours because it’s modified.

ROMBUS - 64 MB flash interface for Mac Plus

@ZaneKaminski Thanks for the information. We are actually stick with the video issue in slot $E. Making a simply adapter is not possible, we must over come that issue first. I know other cards did overcome the issue, but haven't figured it out. Maybe @Bolle and @Trash80toHP_Mini can chime in of the specifics holding the project back. Should you have any time to assist with this project, I'm happy to officer a considerable amount for your time, you'd be surprised AppleFritter is great but has a small audience. Have you tried the forum at http://vintage-computer.com/ this is a good place. As well as the Apple II Enthusiasts Facebook page. I know there are others but I am just learning about the Apple II community better from my Apple II case project.

ROMBUS - 64 MB flash interface for Mac Plus

@ZaneKaminski looks interest, I’d buy one or two once your at that point. Love the idea of this. Also, I contacted Garret asking if he would be interested in helping with our LC to SE/30 PDS adapter project. Once that is complete we can integrate WiFi. I’m happy to offer payment. If you could chat with him about that, I’d appreciate it.

    eBay find: upgraded SE

Great system at a fair price. Very strange video issue. I’m not really sure the cause of that. I’ve seen many issues, but none like this. Hope others will chime in.

    Apple Set Top Box

Please keep us posted, I’ve had many over the years and always wondered what it could do. I’m certain *something* could be done.
  13. So I finally managed to obtain a Micron xceed with the Grayscale adapter, it set me back $1000 which I considered a bargain compared to the one that sold on the Bay for $2000+. My question is, is the card plug and play or are drivers needed before installing? If required, what version (if any) should I use? And lastly can it be used in conjunction with the TwinSpark plus 50mhz upgrade?

    SE FDHD Estate Sale

A new frame and some MB work and it will be good as new. Also, if the AEK II is in good shape that’s at least worth $40. So it’s like getting an SE for free

    Wooden 1400c lid cover ?

I think it was aftermarket and I remember seeing them on eBay a lot more common years ago.
  16. I ordered an LC with what I assumed was a co-processor card from a birds eye photo. However, once I got it, it appears to be a video card. The only marking is on the main chip but Googling the sticker revealed nothing. It is a DB-9 style monitor connector and has 4 hm53461zp-12 video memory chips. Anyone see one of these before? Is it a single page display card?
  17. Yeah, I may hook it up to the machine and see. It needs a recap so I may just put it in my LC 475. Amazingly I have the drive that came with it so I probably have the drivers that came with it.

    PowerBook 180c Won't Turn On

I agree just watch the brittle plastics. Check all the SMD capacitors while you’re inside.
  19. The strange thing is that the DB-9 connector is removable.

    PowerBook 180c Won't Turn On

Could be an issue with the connector on the laptop or the AC if OEM. That said it will need new capacitors regardless. Also, make sure to boot without battery if it’s dead. The HD is probably sticky and needs work or replaced. Regarding the disk, that’s too old of an OS to boot this machine. Likewise, floppy drive issues are common with this series. Have you tried the paperclip method to remove the disk?
  21. I agree with Bolle, it’s entirely possible for it to have 2 cards and the connector to be modified. It looks different from any I’ve seen close up.

Farallon ETHERMAC LC NSC w/NuBus drivers in the SE/30 PDS?

That is an interesting situation, I think you may be right. I am willing to sacrifice one of my boards if it will lead to learning something useful.

Farallon ETHERMAC LC NSC w/NuBus drivers in the SE/30 PDS?

So with the video ROM pulled it should yield favorable test results? Would adding a custom ROM be of use? Just trying to brainstorm. I have some machines I can use for testing too if we get to that point.
  24. You are not alone. I really wish I could do this...

Farallon ETHERMAC LC NSC w/NuBus drivers in the SE/30 PDS?

Was that testing a card with the jumper/switch or did you try to use the prototype card? Looks interesting. I’m certainly no expert but I think it sounds like there must be a way given the results.
