Yes, it is possible! You mainly need a video projector that uses composite or s-video input. Now, there are two ways to go about it:1. If you need to display a specific clip, the 840av has composite and s-video outputs on the back, which you can connect to the projector to display anything outputted by the onboard ports. Having a video accelerator card like the SuperMac or Radius AV cards guaruntees that you'll get 30fps output. 2. If you just need to mirror what you have on your monitor (the desktop), get something like the Apple Presentation System (a.k.a., FOCUS TV adpater), which takes video from the monitor port and converts it to composite video. 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! |

Good alternative, JT, that Lapis box is cheaper than you'll find the APS for! 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! |

No laughing here, living room walls can make great stop-gap projection screens. Actually, one of the most ingenius makeshift project projector screens I've ever seen was accomplished using a large, wooden frame to which was attached a perforated garden hose. When the hose was hooked up to a spigot, the water sprayed out of the tiny holes in the hose and created a squared-shaped mist, onto which the film was projected. But, I digress...Anyway, about video projectors. They are rather expensive, but it's not impossible to find older/cheaper 640x480-only models. Just a quick look at MacWarehouse, their cheapest is the Canon LV-5100, which lists for US$1800. On eBay, I found these: Sony XG-E1000U: 800x600 dpi, 600 lumens, going for less than US$600, maybe? Sharp XT-101TU is a good, 640x480 only projector. No data-line connectors, but has RCA and s-video inputs, which will work for projecting QuickTime output. No sound, either, but definitely worth the starting price of less than US$400. Sharp QA-50 is good if you're on a budget and already have an overhead projector (or could borrow/rent one from a local school/business/OfficeMax). I have no idea what older units like these might be going for in the UK, but at least it gives you an idea. 666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! Most data projectors I've seen will have RGB in, so you can get a VGA adaptor and connect the Mac video out straight to it!~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit 68k Macintosh Liberation Army 00014 Macs liberated. |
