I recently, finally, got my Apple Presentation System up and running!

And as my 630 started up, and displayed my 1984 girl startupscreen, as it booted into Mac OS 8.1, i was like, "HOLY C**P!!!"

I'm not kidding. After i adjusted the controls on the side of the box (its actually a FOCUS Enhancements Portable Pro, repackaged by Apple), the text was extremely clear, and the colour? Holy hell, is there COLOUR??? This has gotta be the best colour i've ever seen from a CRT! The greens are pretty standard, but there is a lot of richness in the reds and blues. And let me tell you, this system is GREAT for games! You should see how Myst looks!

Anyway, i gotta roll, there's a sortie somewhere over in Hawaii, and I hear Myst calling my name...

Damn you, you've got me itching from the huge-tv-display bug. I'm still a pizel-maniac, though...I get tired of 640x480 easily.

Just a quick aside: how many FPS can a 840AV show at 640x480? I want to get one, but really there's more reason to if Apple Video Player will do a decent display.

I'm not sure what you mean...do you mean fps for quicktime video playback?

No, plug in say, a N64 and use the monitor as a TV.

Yeah, that'll work fine, you just set the res to 640x480 and 16 or 24-bit color and you can view incoming composite (RCA) video. I thought you were trying to capture, too!

I suppose it'll be acceptable? 30 or so FPS, or is it just 60 fps straight NTSC (50 fps PAL)?

I used my Playstation for a little while through the 8100/80av's av card - 640x480 worked just fine, and it was usable... though it was taken down to only thousands of colours, and a little less smooooth as on tele colourwise - but the framerate kept up nicely :D
