I admit, finding any 68k mac still in the original box after all these years is pretty impressive, but the bidding on this LC 580 is getting a little out of hand...over $600?!666th poster and 666th thread-creator Mod of the Mac II series Forums Total 68K Macs liberated: 7 Regular Disappear! I know, that is a very rare find. I strongly doubt that there are any more LC580s in the world which are still NIB. On the other hand though, i do stronly doubt as to whether the asking price is really worth it. I'd probably pay about 2-300 bucks australian for it at the most, simply because its still a 68k machine.Still pretty cool though! -------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! hehe "earliest Apple predecesssor to the iMac"...hmm wasn't that the 128k?I'd much rather have a 575 though...the 580 doesn't have the trinitron screen... -------------------- keeper of the website and beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ -------------------- |

Yes, it is possible, but it requires a lot of hacking and modifying to the machine first, before you can just slide the board in. If you go squeamish at the thought of pulling the analog board out of your machine, don't even think about trying it. -------------------------- Pizzabox LCs RULE!!!!!!! Yeah...that would be kinda funky considering the 630 is a modular desktop machine to be used with an external monitor and the 575 is an all-in-one...edit: but then again...I saw a page where somebody took an old IBM all-in-one and hacked a 475 into it... -------------------- keeper of the website and beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ -------------------- Edited by - FireWire is fast on 26 Mar 2002 20:48:48 |

a 5X00 is a 6X00 modular in an all in one, isn't it? i figured a 575 out to be analogous to a 6X0, i'd really like to see a database listing all the cpu's based on that edgecard cable harness interface and the precursors and where it's gone or might be going. everybody thinks of these series in terms of box and cpu, it's really the i/o interfaces that have defined the architectural milestones as i see them. a timeline of i/o architectural evolution with overlays indicating the cpu, os, storage, display, and IC developments and the interrelations would be fascinating (or indecipherable?).whatever, jt

I think that $600 is pretty steep for an LC 575. Although having the original box would raise the value considerably.

Eh...not really IMHO...it's just a average-every-day consumer computer (for 1994...). It's not a N.I.B. TAM or anything... -------------------- keeper of the website and beholder of the Quadra/Centris Stick of Justice™ -------------------- |
