Mods, 4 star, 3 star...I feel like I am ordering Chinese take out in the '60s. All of that aside, any good ideas for a Quadra 950 hack? I would love to trick this thing out and hot rod it...something stupid, you know. Stock is cool and I love the staunch belief of old works well, but quite frankly it's 2001 not 1991 and I don't want to try and do work at 1/4 speed. However nutiness reigns and I want to wig this box out. Any suggestions? |

Well, if you're really looking to trick out a machine, there was that MacAddict issue with the customization article. I still want to rig butane lighters to my power supply... Sgt. Tallgeese Apple II Squad Leader 68k Mac Liberation Army 68k Macs Liberated: 3 |

Another Hack you can try on a quadra is a clock doubler, I used to have this thing that slipped over the clock chip that you could put different chips into to increase the clock speed. Not unlike the PPC ones with dip switches. I know my buddy used one like it one time, but broke the chip right off the motherboard. So I stopped using it in fear that would happen to me too. He found some friend of his who soldered it back in place, and it worked for 6 months then the motherboard fried. I guess the moral of the story is not break chips off....it may kill your QuadraIt is the weak who are cruel. Gentleness can only be expressed by the strong. -Rosten

Yeah, but those clock chips have a bit of an infamous reputation...~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit 68k Macintosh Liberation Army (now with forums!) 00013 Macs liberated. |
