Hello all...

I've visited this site on many different occasions, but this is the first time I had something to post.

I recently liberated a Classic from a local swapmeet. It was piled in with a bunch of TVs. They wanted $5 for it so, I bought it. Took it home expecting the CRT not to work and the OS to be dead. But booted up fine. From some information I could find scavenging through the harddrive I discovered this computer belong to Belmont High School in the Los Angeles School District. This was also engraved into the plastic above the monitor.

The Classic has a 20mg HD and 4mg Ram, OS7.0.1, afterdark, and word 5.1.

Npw that its liberated... what do I do with it. I was thinking of performing some case mods. Perhaps paint and adding some windows...

In case you can't tell... I'm on applefitter a lot.

Opps forgot my other liberation.

Technically I liberated one of my old macs. My brother took over the use of my 840AV when I got my 8500. He had no puter so it worked well for him. Eventually behind my back, he got a PeeCee and the 840 disapeared.

After a recent move my parents found it in the basement. All of my sisters macs were donated and the 840 was next. I went down to San Diego (where my folks live) and came back with the 840. Its up and running now. Good condition.

I heard finding 4mg or ram was kinda rare. Most came with 2mg of ram and to get to the 4mg the ram was mounted on a seperate daughter card. The card could only hold two 1mg or two 256k SIMMS

These cards are special, as they are difficult to find now a days making upgrading a classic rather difficult. At least thats what I took from the site i was reading. I believe it was lowendmac.com.

I think maybe they're a little rare if you're looking for one separately, so you shouldn't buy a classic that hasn't already got one installed. if you find a classic in the garbage and it doesn't work, pull the memory card out before you chuck the rest of the road apple back in the rubbish.
