Well kinda...My microphone on my 6500 died and I needed to get another one so my girls could log in under Multi User controls in OS 9. Anyway I started looking in the phone book to see if there was some place that might have one laying around. I found this place just a few miles away called Classic Computer Recovery I called and they had one. So I drive over to the back of this warehouse and go in through a dock bay door to see stacks of computers and a few older PowerMacs kind of skattered about. I turn and walk over to the desk where to workers are testing 2 PB 165's. I said something to the effect of do you have many Apple computers come through here, to which one worker replied "hell yes, you should see the other room!" Of course I had to see what this man was talking about so I had him show me "the room". This room was another warehouse stacked at least 10 to 15 ft high with Apple computers from school surplus. Most were older Power Macs 5200s and such 65mhz, 75mhz but there were also some 68ks too! I saw a couple Quadras, Centris' and LCs. I also saw a pallet full of the G3 AOI computers. The worker said He couldn't tell me how much they were but that they usually went pretty cheap but I would have to call back and talk to one of the salesmen and they would fix me up. So I'm going to put together a shopping list and call and see what kind of deals I can get on computers, hard drives, memory chips and other parts. So as soon as I get back in town on next Monday I am going to call with a list and see what kinda deals I can get! Any Requests????

Where are you located? I want in on the action!

I am broke (just spent $550 in the last week), but from what it sounds like, that place must get a lot. If I did have the money, I'd ask you to see if you could get a Power Mac 7200, 7500, 6500, or 9500 (9500 and 6500 are highly wanted by me). Also a Duo 280c or 2300c.

If I were you, I would come back with a pickup truck or a U-Haul or something, buy as much as you could haul home, and sell what you didn't want on eBay for a little more than you paid for the model.

While your at it, find yourself a Mac TV, with black keyboard and mouse. The keyboard and mouse are worth quite a bit. A TAM would be nice to get also.

Ooooooh....I want one of the G3 AIO's!

PLEEEEEZ find out how much they are. I know it would be expensive to ship, but if they're letting them go for $300 (or less) it would be quite worth it.

*looks at your description wistfully*
If only shipping from the US weren't so insanely expensive... *sigh*

I just checked out the cost of shipping stuff to Canada via USPS because of my interest in a system that cinemafia is selling, and... given the shipping costs, there's just no way that I can justify it.

So dig in, you guys! (And if anyone has any leads on similar places in Canada, esp. in the Toronto area, please post it here! I'll keep my eyes open...)

Yeah, Gordoom. Shipping from here to Canada sucks. That and it's increadibly slow. The few eBay auctions I've won where the seller was in Canada tooks months to complete.

How much did the shipping come out to be? If you're willing to pay that alone, I can just send you the IIci with all the goodies I was talking about for free. I really have to get rid of it to make room for new stuff and it sounds like you could use it.

P.S. - I think there's at least a moderate Mac following in Winnipeg, you may want to investigate places like Computer Recovery there.

Oh please tell me it is in New York City, anywhere in NYC it doesn't matter...

Whew, got that out of my system. Could you get me a Duo(any duo)? Maybe a 5xx series powerbook? Even a powermac or Quadra, just anything!

Stick of justice, eh? Are we talking about Aristotle's justice, or Rawls' and the original position? More importantly, where can I get one? Speaking of getting things, if they've got 72pin simms, ill take whatever's cheap as hell. 2 would be cool. Or one 16 meg simm. That would be deluxe

Ok! For all you Canadians out there, a while back in the MAF there was a post that was about "The Old Mac Project" a series of articles that were writen by a guy (Jippynickers) that lives in the Great North. In his "6th chapter" he wrote about a place near where he lived at the time that was very similar to the one I found here in Michigan. Here is the link for the article http://www.themacmind.com/cgi-bin/newspublisher/viewnews.cgi?id=998529815

Now if this is near any of you in Canada you may have your own "Holy Grail" sitting right under your noses!

FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!
Look in your local Yellow Pages for any place that deals with old computer parts! Look for key words like recovery, Classic or used. Make some phone calls and see what comes up! I'm sure that there are other places that buy up old school and business computer stock and resell it like this place does! Think about it! How many school districts are there and how often do they replace their computers or upgrade them? Now get out there and do some recon work and report back!

I'd still like to know where I can procure one of these Sticks of Justice. Were they handed out to the mods, or what? They seem like a fairly abstract possesion, this being an internet message board and all. I have a feeling that any one of us could pull a Stick of Justice out of our back pockets at any given time...

**Breaks free from 68K Software Rope of Mystery™ with brand new Quadra AV Stick of Justice™ **

I can play this game too. Firewire is Fast isn't so intimidating now. What'd I say about these abstract possesions? I assume I'm going to get a beating for this, though. Everyone: Don't let the mods run this army like secret tyrants that they are! Fight back!

Now I'm just being annoying. **Puts Quadra AV Stick of Justice™ on a shelf in his room, never to be used again** Or will it? Mwahaha!

Sorry to interupt the whole stick o' justice thing but i was wondering if anyone lives close to Dayton Ohio. The reason is because this year in May there is a convention going on. I went a couple of years ago and there was a bunch of people selling 68k macs. It is supposed to be a Ham Radio thing but there was some Mac sellin' going on. So if anyone can go, there is a bunch of great deals.
