Hey! you run SETI!

I've just smashed 15,000 hours and 750 units on my little squadron of G4s and G3s at work. Can't wait till we upgrade them all next month!

Maybe we should start up a Team 68K... if only there was a fat client.

This is what my desktop looks like whenever I'm at work/surfing the 68k MLA.

Caution, it's pretty big and, although I tried as much as possible to make it look like a Mac desktop...it isn't.

I used to have really cool Mac-related desktops, too. But, then MacDesktops.com went down...and now it's hard to find decent 1600x1200 Mac-related pics anymore. Also, this stupid Win box only supports 16-bit color at 1600x1200, so i have to make the pics fairly simple or they look bad.

I'm afraid mine's just a plain ol mac desktop... with the browser closed otherwise all y'd see is a shot of the forums - prolly seen them a couple of times before, I guess!

I like my desktop tidy-as, so everything gets thrown in the dock. the terminal window is logged into bug (the debianlinux LC630 webserver) n is looking as agent logs when the webserver was running - looking for the crawlygooglebots that used to visit every now & then.

eventually i'll be reading this as . . . . when i've figured out how to link to my idisk. by then i'll have changed my wallpaper to something appropriate!

actually right now it's a collage of LJ**.jpegs from tha dangerous curves collection so it's pretty tame.

i've just about given up on the tidy desktop thing, i've got folders and shortcuts plastered everywhere, i may throw another PCI card in the G-4 just to get all the crap out from under what i'm working on and onto the portrait.

Okay, I posted a new pic, under the same name. You may have to reload it.

P.S. - My next big feat is to try Basilisk II on this box! I already downloaded it, I just need to get the ROM file from one of my 68k's at home and get it here so I can use it. Ahhh...why didn't I ever think of doing that before?!

The ACARD board is actually the Sonnet ATA-100 Controller Board, which shows to the system as SCSI, to trick the system (It shows as 2 SCSI channels to avoid conflicting with the onboard ATA controller)

Ahhh!
*figures that makes some kind of sense, apple hardware: think convoluted!*

btw, thanks for the new desktop pic, sosumi. i nabbed and cropped the large version to 1024 x 798 (on purpose, NOT a typo) looks GREAT!

*shakes head again, thinking about apple's architectural oddities.*

*sighs*

I think I will! Tomorrow I should have copied the ROMs from all of my 68ks to a FTP server so I can get them here at work, then I'm going to run Basilisk II under each and see what I can and cannot do with it. It's really made for Win NT & 2000, but works in 98 with a few options unavaiable. The box I have here at work runs NT 4 and 98, but the NT side has no access to installing software, etc., so I have to try it on the 98 side only.

If nothign else, it'll be great for 68k games, but I'd like to see if it can run more intensive apps.

Here's my beige G3's desktop. It is actually clean and organized!
My DT picture is one of my own weather shots!

Here's my Apple System Profiler - Devices and Volumes shot. I have a 40 GB Maxtor, partitioned in two - a 4 gb partition for OS X, and the rest for MP3s and whatnot. My OS 9 drive is a Seagate 10 gb from an iMac:

Here are a few more I have now.

http://homepage.mac.com/captainz/other/screenshots/novadesktop.jpg
I was suprised Ambrosia didn't make the intro screen of EV Nova into a desktop, so I made one myself.

http://homepage.mac.com/captainz/other/screenshots/G4temp.jpg
I recently got my G4 upgrade, and here is the new speeds from GaugePRO.

http://homepage.mac.com/captainz/other/screenshots/hardware2.jpg
Apple System Profiler, updated to reflect the latest upgrades. 704MB of RAM (up from 448), and a G4/500 (up from G3/350)

It's sad that most of the games on my Application list I haven't played in a long time. Fallout, even though I have played it, I haven't played in a good 4 months.
