I have a heavy orange-leather suitcase I got for $3 at a thrift shop, and in it is my PowerBook Duo 280 with it's AC adapter, power cord, SCSI MicroDock and HDI-30 to C-50 SCSI cable. I also have my JamCam 3.0 with a USB cable and the installation software. Since I only have PC's at work, having the install disk around at all times is a must. I also have some other miscellaneous junk like a German "Stabilo" all-surface-pencil, a generic permanent marker, a pocket mirror, a 4"x6" pad of heavyweight paper for notes, an empty mini-case of aspirin and bunch of useless handouts from the office.

Hopefully soon I'm going to replace the heavy suitcase with a cool black "Executive Travel" bag I saw at Target for $40. The crazy thing is, on the packaging it has a picture of the bag opened-up to show all it's compartments, and guess what's in the laptop sleeve? That's right, a PowerBook Duo. You can't tell which model, because it's closed of course, but I thought that was so cool that I have to buy it. Well, once I have an extra $40 anyway.

Just my 'Book; that's all I need! I don't even need a power adapter!
(Two-battery Pismos rock!)

Either that, or if I'm going to choir rehearsals, I have a whole load of hymnals (as in, four or five) in my backpack... man, does that get heavy!

I have a largish laptop bag that I bought five years ago used for 40 dollars (it had a Duo inside of it) that has held up fairly well to the elements. In it is the wallstreet with the battery in place of the floppy drive,a USB PC card, the power supply, some pencils,an Archos MP3 player, a pair of 20 cent headphones that sound better than the ones that came with it, a crossover cable, a Powershot S20, a 340 megabyte microdrive for the S20, the battery for the S20, a PC card adapter for the microdrive, a few small torx screwdeivers, some yellow post-it notes, some small plastic bits that fell off of the Duo, and a prepay POS Audiovox cellphone that looks like it was made in the 1980's

MD = MiniDisk

Sony makes this product, and I hear it's quite good.

It's not only Sony nowadays, but they invented it. The only portable music palyers that I would get are a MiniDisc or an iPod: MD player/recorders blow solid state MP3 players out of the water.

The following is in my bag depending on what bag i'm carrying:

Tosca laptop case:
PowerBook 1400c/166
power adapter and power cable for PowerBook
LocalTalk cable
modem cable
HDI-30 SCSI adapter
latest couple issues of MA
several disks and CDs

Generic book bag:

Ok, if you read way up above, you'll see my "portable" office message.

I've found that all of that fits in a milk crate that sits on my back seat... BUT...

My Newton is a better portable office than my Duo 230!
Once I installed AvailWorks on my 130, I could write whole papers on the Newt. I can send faxes, e-mail, print...

With my new 2100, I can write something, and then have Kathy or Fred speak it back to me. E-mails and faxes and prints can all be delayed and as soon as I connecto to my computer at home.. BAM! They are sent off like a shot to where and who they are addressed to.

I love my Newton! My Duo230 is much more dormant than it was since I got it.

I don't have a bag
all I need are my trusty old 800k dual-sided floppies.
the kind that work on both of my macs. :)

luckily, more than just a few feet of twine, i forgot to replenish it after fashioning a hillbilly belt for some poor kid whose fasteners broke on his lowrider baggies. that was hilarious!

i ran across a full classic setup along with a brother word processor all bagged up for the recycler today. liberated my first microphone along with a kbd II, adb and serial cables! i told a couple of people about the MLA when they asked me about it. anyway i had enough twine and lashed the kbd and the cover for the processor (it was raining an i couldn't figure it out right away) to the processor, stuffed the cables in my bag and wore my arms and wrists out.

best of all, the classic is dead as a doornail!
IT'S HACKTIME!!!!

is it considered bad form if i don't even TRY to revive this POS? i could use a MacQuarium/Breakout box a lot more than a freakin' sub-SE road-kibble!

jt . .

p.s. the brother actually worked, luckily the daisy wheel was missing, so i disemboweled it real quick before i found one.

p.p.s. it's been a good day! this morning i got a compaq deskpro 200mhz mmx pentipoop. if it doesn't work, that's an AWSOME hackers case!!!! if you find one, grab it!!! got a handfull of SIMMS and a 100Mhz poopwad with a really cool green heat-sink on it. (the 200's is HUGE!!!)

Well.. if you plug it in and there is NOTHING... then the Power Supply must be dead!

that's some ugly repairs work...

I'd make a breakoutbox or something.

I don;t condone this, but I have realized that dead IIcx's, when gutted, are great for hideing liquor bottles.
