I was wondering if anyone knows what these cables are. Also, let me know if you are going to bid on them. I only really want the HDI SCSI adapter, so, if one of youguys gets the set, could you sell me that one? I really dont want to bid against any homies.

It seems to me that its a hdi 30 to 50 pin adapter(the one you want) a hdi-30 to 25 pin adapter (cant figure out what its used for) and maybe a 50 to 25 pin adapter? Its a darn good deal just for the hdi 30-50 so if you want it go ahead and pick it up.

[deperately resists the urge to bid]

The HDI-30 to DB-25 cable is for connecting external SCSI devices that use DB-25 ports, like Zip and Jaz drives, to a powerbook/duo dock SCSI port.

The HDI-30 to C-50 cable is for connecting external SCSI devices that use Centronics-50 ports, which is just about everything else, to a powerbook/duo dock SCSI port.

The last cable inside the plastic bag is a DB-25 to C-50 cable, which is used for connecting a c-50 device to a DB-25 port, or for daisy-chaining a DB-25 device to a c-50 device (or vice-versa).

Are you sure that the one with the DB-25 isn't the one that puts the 'Book into SCSI disk mode? (There's an easy way to check once you get the auction... look at the HDI-30 end. A regular SCSI cable will be missing a pin, whereas the SCSI disk mode cable won't.)

you got that right cine, i've got the cable you described for my Zip, but the dark cable is HDI-30 to Micro DB50, check the aspect ratio of the connector and the two locking tabs on the sides of the silver connector shell, dark gray cables usually have the extra pin for SCSIDM so that cable looks to be an odd duck.

Ahh, yes, I forgot about micro-50. It seems like I've only ever seen non-macs use micro 50, though I'm not sure why? I guess Apple standardized DB-25 for SCSI.

At first glance, I thought that was an HDI->30 to a 68pin...

i don't know that it's NOT 68 pin but that would be silly to put on a 30 wire cable. after deducting the SCSIDM pin and the 25 pins for apple's substandardized 25 pin implementation there would only be 4 additional pins so it seems an unlikely configuration. here is a link to the connector info.

i'd never seen one either so i went back and checked for the part, they've got it:
http://www2.warehouse.com/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=4605&cat=networking&sel=Cables

didn't look to see how much an adapter to use it would cost, but it would be an interesting cable to have on hand and the other two are worth placing a bid on their own.

Rats, some dude bid. Anyway, when I bid, my sn will be famous_artist. Think $6 would be a good max bid? Im not really 'all about' getting these cables.

Also, does anyone have one of those external floppy drives for sale for cheap? $10 +shipping seems too much (what they are going for on ebay).

those cables tend to be pretty expensive at the store... $15 would still be a good deal...

Tell me about it! There's a pretty good Mac-only specialty store called Unitek here in L.A. that carries them for something like $35 or $40!
