Well. Not quite friday night like my others, but Sunday night/monday morning... and I think I'm 68k'd out. I disassembled my network for a good ol cleaning & reorganising on Thursday night sometime, and still haven't put it all back together. It's just not exciting anymore. I have my imac up, and the 950 serving... and playing with the new 700... but it's just not -exciting- anymore. That's kinda dud. Perhaps I'm just having one of those days/weeks/months or something. I'm even forgetting to check ebay hourly for buy-now-specials!.What can I do, dear readers, to reignite that 68k passion. I was thinking of coding but... it's all blah too. dana (Dear Abbey...) |

make a cup of peppermint (personal nighttime fave w/ heaps of sugar) tea and snuggle up with mousie and forget about computers. then get up and take a walk in the morning. no computers at all except e-mail/non-technical posting so you don't go entirely into withdrawal.jt back: and get out a sketch pad and some pastels for the walk! Go to www.macauction.com.au! Just kidding, tho, that site is crap right now (needs a LOT of work and about 50x more auctions...) Actually, I'm just glad you didn't want my 24si, but then I suppose you already have NuBus cards coming out of your ears.Oh, and as a token of my gratitude for staying out of the auction, and to make you feel better, please accept this 68k inspired hello. \@/ | | |----- | | |----| | | | | | | | | | | {| | | | | | | | | |} |----| |----- | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |----- |----- |----- |----| @

your rose is very cool, raWr, *that's why i stole it* did you create it originally?even if you didn't, i think you've inspired an ASCII Art Renaissance, now we've got </code> tags and original graphics are being developed within the text messages of a GUI based forum interface that was developed to incorporate linked avatar bitmaps and animations! tres retro! *6.8k even!* great job, ~coxy, that was a really nice gesture. jt Edited by - Trash80toG-4 on 03 Mar 2002 10:55:10 |

Dana,Maybe it's time for you to adopt some of your 68k's to loving homes that could really use a computer. You've rescued and rehabilitated them, but perhaps its time to let them move on to new pastures. Just a thought. 68K's liberated: 0 68Ks adopted to loving homes: 2 PowerMacs adopted: 1 |

whenever I start thinking that I'm losing interest, I break out my copies of Apple Confidential and The Second Coming of Steve Jobs, and read for a while. Thanks, I sure hope so... It took about half an hour to build, I'm still a novice at doing ASCII art! ~Coxy - Leader, Tactical Operations Unit 68k Macintosh Liberation Army 00014 Macs liberated. |

I agree with Marchie...time to unplug and get some different machines. I am going through that myself getting rid of alot of pizza boxes and going for the more serious stuff...higher end Quadras. Also you could get something with the TV/AV cards and do some editing. This has been mentioned before...but I have yet to put together a "garage machine" to keep track of auto maintanance and all the parts laying around...just think of using an old LC covered in grease and using that old 12 inch monitor you have buried in the closet. I know where there is an Apple Kiosk for sale (a server)...that would do that job perfectly. It is a rack system that looks very serious. Hmm ...the possablities... :)

Oooah - thanks for alla replies n suggestions people... and for the roses. wheee!I found out yesterday I have gallstones - which is probably a big reason for me feeling as tired as I am lately... least thats an excuse to eat a bit better!. I've decided to just leave the macs for now, and use the net for chatting & mailing & all the simple stuff. They won't die if they're sitting on the floor doing nothing for a while :D. At the moment I'm staying at my mothers' place for a few nights, and have Skye my 540c with me. She can do everything I need at the moment, and I have MPW installed here too just in case I need to really get my teeth into everything. All should be coolies :). dana (venting my life out into the forums :D

{{{{Dana}}}}}Sending wubs your way. That orthoscopic sonic surgery they can do these days is a marvel. Aye, thats what I think may be my problem - I dropped from 376lbs/171kgs to my goal weight of 200/90 (spot on for my height) in around 18 months... which was a little quicker than I should have. It's alla treatable however :) dana (I'm back btw :D
