Search "Liberation Army" - 5th page (48th, after all the people's liberation armies of uzbekistan, etc.)
Search "mac" - I went through the top 700 results, before giving up...
Search "Mac Liberation army" - 1st page, 1st 4 results were us, the 9th and 10th were old threads from the MAF!
Search "68k mac" - 3rd page (34th)
Search "Vintage macs" - unfortunately we're not even in the top 20. Time for some META tags!
Search "68k" only - 3rd page (35th)

What does this tell us? I reckon we're doing quite well, but we need to get results (preferably on the first page) for likely searches by people. If you'd like to do somthing for the MLA, start by going to a few link/webring type sites and submitting the forums. After all, we are a tight and dedicated bunch who are very willing to help the outsider. Not many questions go unanswered here (except for PPC ones!) and we have a lot of people who are experts in their field!

68KMLA forever!

I have a link on my site's link page! I 'spose some banners couldn't hurt, though.

I could make some banners if I get the time this weekend...

(and adding some META tags for phrases relating to the 68k MLA wouldn't hurt...)

(and a nice redirect from the main index page to the text only)

How about a META tag with every 68K model; every derivative of vintage, apple and mac; as well as newton, SCSI, NuBus, etc...

That should cover everything!

(Couldn't edit my last post)

Have y'all thought about writing up a little article about 68k Macs, the army, and the various resources, and submitting it to Low End Mac?

ty4thetrans

is it considered bad form to post the url to an approproate thread here for further info, in an informative, but brief *yeah, that's likely! lmao*, response to a question or issue posed by someone on another forum?

jt

p.s. have you tried the font yet, fw?

Wicked!

Anyway, my friend the webmaster is back from South Africa, I'm going to discuss with him a few improvements to the site, like META tags, a counter, etc.

any chance for:

larger type sizes in general |size=6| is a little small for dingbats.

the ability to use our own font name and not have to resort to a hack of a font from the list?

looks like the only combo workable to display type (graphics) overunning the bounding box is Omniweb under OS X (which wasn't "EXACTLY" the point of the exercise!) the others smoosh the caracter to fit within the point spec. for the text line.

maybe it would be easy to limit larger type sizes to fonts that begin with "68kMLA".

does the code for our forum need to be a subset of literatureclassic's feature set?

The problem is with the limitations of the forums software that we run... I'll see if there's a way to add in our own font, tho.

Curiously - if you have pages of your own - link to the 68kmla forums and site... it won't take long to appear in search engines if your page is already on there, as mine is.

When I was running my pages from the 630, I'd check out any IP's, and about 1/5th were from search engines. Altavista crawled my html pages twice a day, and checked my index.html every 6 hours or so!. Google would pop up as checking my site about twice a week.

Having said that - I'd best go stick some -stuff- up about the mla on my site :D

dana (but I'm tidying my network atm...)

you guys are so fast, replies were up before i finished editing the post! thanks!

is there any decent documentation on our software anywhere online? haven't found too much yet, but that |/code| "tag" is killer! (is "tag" the proper nomenclature? anubis described it as such and it felt right to me) i really don't know this stuff, but i might recognize terms and spec interactions/issues that aren't obvious to those more familiar with this kind of programming, but not the technical side of the type issues.

thanks, hadn't found the support forums yet, do you know where basic info might be, most of the posters are programmers who assume familiarity with terms/concepts that i don't have as yet. any help in getting over the hump in the learning curve would be appreciated.

like: i haven't seen a definition of the term "avatar"

do i need a primer on html for basic info like this? jargon usually has connotations not found in webster's. just point me to the proper line of inquiry, i'm usually a quick study, but narrowing the focus will help me a lot.

Copy and paste the whole URL into your browser, the problem is the autosensing URL thing thinks it's two different addresses.

Argh! Damn thing.
OK, since whenever I try to fix it it doesn't work, you must copy and paste the URL starting from 'http://www.google.com...', ignoring the first bit (up to 'target=blank')

"Tag" is the name for the bits of HTML code that go around the text in a webpage. Since the formatting for the UBB {CODE} command is almost identical, I reffered to it as a tag. An avatar is graphical image representing a person. I believe the word "avatar" originally was a person who acted as a vessel for a god to communicate on the mortal plane, or something to that effect, and the word was picked up when graphical chat came around and people had little images to represent themselves ,avatars, that they used as a vessel to communicate on the digital plane. But don't quote me on that.
